Darn red-headed step-child had to weasel her way into the photo.
Hahahahah! Great comment!
hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guess the youngest got Dad’s eyesight…
brilliant
Ahahahaha!
hahaha
I just got it!! FUNNY!
she was just protecting her sister and the baby from the compound bow off camera
Just stop the compound bow jokes already people. It’s so overdone that even the ones that may have been funny are just not funny anymore. Stop trying, it isn’t going to work. Ever.
stop trying to make fetch happen. it’s NOT going to happen.
fetch!…too funny!!
Never forget the tribute to the compound bow ! You forgot the turtle though.
Gotta love the popped collar too! haha!
Hahaha. Didn’t even notice it til you said something. Sweeeet!!!
The popped collar truly makes this photo.
Annnnnnd, smile at the cameras.
LOL
The straps on the outfit of the youngest human child look like those that are on snow pants??? And gotta love the flipped up collar too
They totally do! HAHAHAHA!
Maybe they ARE snowpants???
Ah, snowpants. The best part was because you wore the matching coat more often then the full coat-pants combo, the jacket faded faster than the pants, thus making them eventually mismatched when worn together.
Maybe that’s why she has the pants and not the coat in the photo.
They are staring all over the place
ok…and the only one that got it right was the cabbage patch doll….SO sad…
Mom and two kids all have the same groovy glasses.
I forgot how crazy the 80’s were! In my foggy memory it never was quite as bad as it really was. Its safer that way!
I love old photos
Great!
OMG that’s Connie Karlene, my missing Cabbage Patch since the 80s. This must have been the ransom photo.
I just laughed out loud for a long time at this… good one.
Kinda creepy how the dolls eyes follow you around the room!
I hate to admit it, but all of my siblings and I have individual photos taken with our Cabbage Patch dolls. And they are safely hidden away at Mom’s. Truly fear the day some enterprising sibling decides to get back at all the “wrongs” by submitting photos to this most awesome site!
Anyone else notice the girl w/ the doll is the only one looking right at the camera? Spooooky.
Big Sis is all like, Yeah she had to get the doll in the photo, didn’t she?
Whats with the arm grip? She really must not like the doll!
“Gimme the doll”
“no”
“Gimme the doll”
“no”
“Gimme the doll”
“no”
“Gimme the doll”
“no”
“Gimme…”
Awesome title!
Going by outfit color coding, I’d say this looks like the power rangers when they’re in civilian mode.
Little sister must want the Cabbage Patch Kid to take over as the Yellow Ranger.
I love the popped collar on big sis’s shirt!
Oh, man, does this make me nostalgic for the 80’s!
Oh… my…. goodness…. !!
I’m loving the matching glasses for all the ladies!
Sure, the older sister’s hand on the younger one’s arm is a bit strange, and I bet none of them are wearing the same frames today, but I think it’s a sweet photo, and I’m glad the parents let her include her doll.
What is the smirk on older sisters face… is she going to pinch younger sister???
Mom wanted the cabbage patch doll in the picture to prove that she spent all night in the parking lot of TRU to get the first one off the truck… oldest sister has the sinister smile to give warning to the women she took out at the knees so Mom could get the cabbage patch…she has a compound bow and is not afraid to use it in the future.
Omg – I remember a family vacation to Gatlinburg where I took my Cabbage Patch doll. I even had a “baby carrier” for it that I strapped to my back, like a real baby. That doll was in several photos.
They all have the same eyeglass frames..awkward. Wonder why the doll wasn’t accessorised, too.
the fine print: in order to qualify for the 3 for 1 special on glasses…you must purchase 3 of the exact same pair.
I’m loving bis sister’s popped collar…so chic!
That cabbage patch doll may be discreete, but it will haunt my dreams tonight….
Oh gosh, the eighties.
I think this family (as well as this photo) is adorable. Though a bit awkward, yes…the matching frames made me giggle.
I remember my own Cabbage Patch doll well! I got her for Christmas in ‘83 (and still have her now, at age 28 – my kindergarteners play with it). Her name was Calla Lettie…anyone else remember those silly names the company gave them?
They all (still!) have two-part, “southern” names. Mine’s was Sara Beth. My sister’s was Corrie Marlene.
Dinah Louise
Barker Paige
Dawn Beverly
Cora Madge and Fritz Jerome
Isn’t it a childhood pet and the name of the street you grew up on? or am I thinking of something else?
Albertina Carlotta…was my sisters. For the life of me I can’t remember mine!
lol…. clara daisy
Carly Jillian and she has red hair just like this. Have a preemie boy named Darren Casper. Also have homemade sweater and scarf sets my grandmother made me from a Woman’s World magazine doll/teddy bear pattern. I was an adult 24 yr. old doll collector and still am.
Josephine Dalia. I’m pretty sure I still have her too.
Ardenia Janith
I had Emalia Arlene (received for xmas ‘83) and a preemie, Rusty Roddy (received for xmas ‘84). Those guys had more clothing than me, I think! I spoiled those dolls like you wouldn’t believe!
Ina Amelia (mine) and Doritta Carlotta (my sister’s.) We recieved them for Christmas 1984
Carrie Lou Lou
I remember my mom and dad letting me pick mine out at the grocery store of all places…his name was Edwin Merlin He was the greatest doll I ever had! Infact, I just reallized how much I still miss him
i don’t remember the original names, but my first was a preemie (jane marie), and then there were rebecca ann karen and peter david. i also had a koosa named randi sammy and an international kid (wanted spain, wound up with scotland instead) whose name escapes me…… i think all of them are in my dad’s basement at the moment.
My mother actually took a class and made one. She did a great job and I got to name her myself..Alison Shae. Ahh-the memories…
weird! MY name is alison shae! spelled exactly the same!
Mine was Anita Myra and now my daughter has a similar looking one named Annamarie Jamie. They look like the one in the picture.
Lynette Vicky
Helga Hermione
Emmeline Eloise
not so much ‘Southern’ – more random name generator. Gotta love Xavier Roberts!
Javier Shaw (boy!)
I remember a girl at school had one which was wearing a school uniform like the ones we actually wore, her mom made them to match. I was so jealous.
Are any of them even looking at the camera? Can they see it?
AHAHAHAHAHA I had that same Cabbage Patch Kid…still have it lying around somewhere.
mom and little sis are staring at the camera smugly because THEY know the secret to a happy existance….cabbage patch dolls!!
OK – I am a ‘cast member’ at the Happiest Place on Earth and big sis is wearing the costume that they wear in the parking lot at Magic Kingdom!!!
OMG You’re RIGHT!! Have a Disney Day!!
That’s exactly what I thought!
I had the yellow striped shirt and yellow pants and it was my favorite outfit in 7th grade. I got it from Miller’s Outpost. One time I wore it to school on Tuesday and again on Thursday and my mom got mad at me!
Do mother, daugher, and daughter all have the same glasses??? Must have been a sale!
Ahahaha!!! This is my family and me!!!!! Oh my god, I am absolutely tickled to see the portrait show up here on one of my favorite websites. I posted the picture on Flickr, in one of the bad ’80s fashions photo groups, and someone must have pulled it from there. Awesome.
This photo was taken in August 1984. I was 10 and my sister was 13 (although she looks 40). The Cabbage Patch Kid was Emalia Arlene, and I swear she never left my freaking side. With my boy haircut, huge glasses, and braces, I look like such a mess. Love it.
Jen- I’m so proud to be a member of your family. You know I sent the link to my mom. It’s only a matter of time before your mother finds out…….Unless, of course, you told her already. Has Kristen seen this?
Great photo! Did your mom “trim” your bangs for the picture? I hated when my mom did that!
Talked to my mom last night. She sent the link to your mom. Most of the reponses on it were from Bill. But my mother, on the other hand, couldn’t stop revisiting the site and laughing hysterically. Kay clearly has our sense of humor. Sue, maybe not so much.
It turns out my mom is totally cool with it as well; in fact, she posted her approval below! I think Dad will be fine with it, too. As for Kristen…hmmm….
What really strikes me as odd about this photo is that Big Sis and Dad are not looking at the camera, but they’re aren’t looking in the same direction. Dad is looking up and to the right, and Big Sis is looking down and to the right.
So much for evolution! I never expected to see my family’s pic on the internet! Thank goodness we all look much better now–older but BETTER!
Aunt Sue- you’re such a good sport. I love this pic and remember how insanely jealous of Jen I was- cause my mom wouldn’t let ME have my Cabbage Patch Kid in our family photo. You are the cooler sister. (and, yes, thank goodness you have all evolved into better looking folks)
WoW! LoL!
I had those exact same glasses….and the same cabbage patch (Lydia Renae). It’s like seeing me plopped in the middle of another family….a little freaky!! : )
OMG! I love that everyone is posting their CPK names!
And I also thought that the pants looked like snowpants…
My CPK: Penelope Marcelle and Noelle Ermina
My wife and I went through Cleveland Ga where cabbage head was invented. We always look at the huge sign saying Home of the original………… and think God that was a nasty 15 minutes
20 yrs ago.
Those glasses are awesome.
haha! awesome! if that purple snowsuit-looking-jumpsuit is shorts, I had the same one. oh, the 80’s!
my cabbage patch i had was named holly, no recollection of the other name. i had another one named prudence. i was so young, i would just say holly doll. i love it.
pop those collars.
Theres where my cabbage patch doll went ! I knew my mom didn’t throw her away.
Weird, the costumes (or in normal terms, uniform) I had to wear while working the parking lot at Disnye, are identical to the older sis’ outfit.
I had (aka still HAVE) that same Cabbage Patch Kid. Her name is Lynette Vicky. I love it! (My giant glasses were red and more like Sally Jessie Raphael)
I have the same Cabbage Patch Kid as well! Mine was named Carrie. I think i bit through her nose as a child, and now she has a big crack in it.
