Oh, man, Joy Division. That was a great band.
Geeez, the old fart has the erect monolithe of light by his side and the glowing triangle on his shoulder. and all the kid gets is a dark shadow.
LOL. They all look so freaking happy. I laughed out loud when I saw this one.
Someone left their cake out in the rain.
normal family
These people look familiar!
Big brother just ran outside to get another brick to put under the sofa. Sadly, he missed the photo op altogether and came through the door just as the sofa collapsed.
The body language between Mom and Dad….now that’s love.
If they took away the pillows on the side of the couch maybe they would actually have more room.
Was this their Christmas card picture??
All the Whos down in Whoville liked Christmas a lot, but this poor little family certainly did not!
I think these people are sitting on someone?
there’s something seriously wrong with that couch. I’d probably frown too, if I had to sit on that couch. What is it stuffed with? Dead bodies?
Looks like Thanksgiving at Marney’s was a success.
my bad, can’t every finish a comment.
anywas…that’s EXACTLY what I was thinking. I was just waiting for the music to start playing and for Grandpa to look at the camera and say “We got sick of Marney telling us what to bring to Thansgiving, so we sat on her like we did Aunt Telcia!”
ROFL….this has got to be one of the funniest photos yet….LOVE it!
They remind me of the ‘Culhanes” from Hee Haw.
I was thinking the same thing…
Tune in next week when LuLu says ” no, we’re not sitting on anyone”
Not silly, but merely foolish.
OMG!!! All I could think of was The Culhanes!!!! Great line!!! HAHA!!!
love the kids shirt on the left, I have one just like it!
They’re watching tv – probably a Little House on the Prairie rerun – see the zombie eyes?
Yes! Probably watching the latest coverage on “Balloon Boy”
Definitely photoshopped. Has to be. You couldn’t get that much joy in a family photo without photoshopping it. (Sorry AFP, I’m a sarcastic SOB)
I would love to see these kids’ future wedding photos. I hope they crack a smile then!
Um, HelLO!? They ARE smiling…!
BOOOHOOO!
The girl looks like she’s trying to get away from her brother, like he has cooties.
this was the alternate cover for the “CLOSER” album.
Why…so….SERIOUS?
Jared had always been a shy fellow. At age sixteen, he had finally had the nerve to ask Angela to the homecoming dance. He spent the day cleaning his dad’s car, practicing his dance moves in the mirror, praying no one would notice the zit on his forehead and getting ready for the big date. He arrived exactly at 6:30. Angela spied him coming up the walk and called down from her open upstairs window that she would be ready in five minutes. “Go inside, my folks want to meet you. The door is open.” Nervously Jared walked into the living room and was met with the warm, welcoming reception you see here.
love it!
This IS my family! This photo has cracked me up for years. Enjoy!
UH…are you okay?
Yeah, Nicole…is there anything you’d like to, uh…y’know…TALK about?
it’s my uncle’s family, not mine! thanks for the concern though!
That one arm holding the wrist of the other arm is a dead give away of a person being shy and uncomfortable in a situation. (I do it all the time.
)
Some over enthusiastic visiting relative has railroaded them into the picture.
They don’t want to sit together and be photographed. They HATE each other and they hate photos.
But, as another poster pointed out, the weird way they are sort of lying on the couch suggests that they are indeed sitting on someone. Which would explain alot.
That’s very interesting! I have a shy child, and she poses like that all the time.
they’re so squished!
I can understand the daughter’s unhappy look – would you be happy wearing those pants??
No, I wouldn’t be. Especially on that couch!
i think the title and the caption are frickin hilarious!! I love the band Joy Division!
Love.
Will.
Tear Us.
Apart.
Again.
XD
OMg! I grew up on Joy Division! By the way…..great song!!
They’re probably uncomfortable, with 4 of them being wadded into a loveseat.
This actually looks like my Dad’s side of the family. If any of them ever cracked a smile for a photo, you’d think it would kill them.
Brilliant caption!
I have seen a lot of family photos with similar levels of joy. This photo represents the category well.
The dad looks JUST like my GF’s dad. Hey! It IS my GF’s dad! Oh, and I think Mom’s pants are Photoshop’d.
Where’s the pitchforks?
OMG Perfect!!!
LOL….LOVES IT! The blinding glare from their smiles was a bit hard on the eyes though….
I know how this type of photo can happen. My Mother would take 10 years to take pictures back in the day (before digital photography). You start out with a smile and by the end of it look like this!
OMG! I know exactly what you mean! I’m a photographer now and I have to try this with my next family portrait.
Same here, my Mum used to take ages lining up a shot & I would have to hold a pose for all this time.
The any red-eye flashes are also confusing as I tend to flinch for the first flash just in time for the shutter opening.
OK, everyone, now look at the camera! OK, one, two, by the way you just lost everything but that couch, SMILE!
we ARE smiling,…
Lovely. I can’t wait until Thanksgiving.
they just got their letter from Marney….what do you expect???
Now THAT’S funny!!
Joy unspeakable!!
Oh. My. Laws…obviously this family isn’t into picture, or sitting by each other, or…human emotion…
Monopoly anyone?
They all look identical
It looks like the kids are being forced to sit on the (tiny) couch for a pic with the grandparents and the grandparents are none too happy to have their little couch invaded by the ungrateful little brats who always have to be forced to pose in pictures with them!
Everyone is ticked at Dad for not spending the extra 50 bucks on the full-sized sofa.
Best comment! That’s exactly what I was thinking!
luv the caption
Seconded
Thirded
Now the question is–are they *sitting* on anyone?
AFP has taught us to look at photos differently, for sure…random eyeballs, people dressed like the wallpaper slowly morphing into or out of it, Photoshopping!!, man-pris, dead animals, weapons of all kinds…
…and bunnies from hell!
yeah! there’s a lot of hell bunnies!
When I was a portrait photographer, I’d have families look at me just like that.
Really?! I wonder why they’d even bother to come in if they were just going to scowl! Crazy.
It was usually Mom who insisted. Dad and the kids would be thinking: OK, I’ll do it, but I won’t like it.
and mom’s mad at everyone for not liking it!
