It’s so NOT photo shopped! The whole pic is a little blurry because the photog realized she was going to take a dive. Also, see the man rushing to her rescue from the left?
The way the toddler is contorted and landing on her head precludes any laughs for me. This is the first time I’ve felt this way on this site. The photo captured what had the potential to be a traumatic childhood head injury (so I appreciate the parenthetical comment about no one being hurt).
Looks to me like the kid was already in a position with her head on the ground (like a tripod or attempting a headstand) and someone grabbed the camera but by the time they pushed the button the kid lost the pose.
My toddler falls regularly. I bet if I caught even one of her incidents on camera mid-fall, it would look like this or worse. It happens, and sometimes it looks funny.
Shame on you AFP for posting this one. She may not have been injured, but a fall like that hurts! The child’s position looks painful. You’ve crossed a line, AFP.
I’m with you – it’s like the funny videos on TV where you wonder if sick parents encourage the children to do harmful things so they can win a prize. I know that’s not what’s going on with vintage photos like this, but we have seen parents do sick things for their 15 minutes of fame. I hope AFP will exercise some discretion when it comes to modern – possibly staged – photos.
Who’ll think of the chiiiiildren???!!!! Seriously, lighten up. The kid is fine. The picture is funny if you are into that sort of humor (fact: most folks find falls funny), and had it been an adult, no one would have been so outraged because they aren’t precious little hot house flowers.
It’s true, though. None of those funniest home video shows would have lasted more than a few episodes if people didn’t think falls were hilarious. And really, if you look at anything involving even light physical comedy, it involves a fall. There’s nothing wrong with laughing at it if the person isn’t seriously injured. It’s just human nature.
My toddler takes spills all the time. In the midst of it them, they look horrendous. Unless I freak out, she gets up and goes on her merry way. Sheesh! If this kid ended up a quadraplegic, you think they would have posted it?
How did she fall out with the way the stroller is unless she was sitting on it wrong. She couldn’t have flipped out like that with her legs in the stroller. Poor girl. I would like to know the story behind this one.
I think she was standing in the stroller to get a better view over the fence. Or perhaps she was climbing the fence. I do see someone on the left attempting to catch her.
Yea right…no one was injured…except that KID! Boy, they sure do start contortionist training early over there! “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!” LOL
I appreciate the parenthetical remark about the child not being hurt, but I’m willing to bet her future SAT scores would be just a smidge higher if this hadn’t happened.
You put your left foot in… you put you left out… you put your left foot in and you shake it all about… you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself a—-….. UH OH!
This pic makes me nervous! Can the submitter please write in and let us know what the story is here and if that kid was really okay??? (I’ll admit, though, some of the comments made me LOL!)
You know what? It almost looks to me like the kid was climbing on the fence to get a better view, and then fell. Awkwardly. Maybe the parents were even trying to get a picture of the kid on the fence, and captured this thing of beauty instead.
All of you talking about how heinous this is because of how OMG TRAUMATIC it looks, you’re the type of parents who are going to make your kids over-sensitive basket cases who can’t handle criticism or reality. Incidents happen. You put on your big girl panties and get over it.
***Any comments that are offensive to the point of being viciously personal, racist, homophobic, exceedingly profane, violent or too graphic in nature won't be posted. We want to keep this site a friendly place to be awkward. Thanks!***

One full somersault in the pike position, she gets an 8.5 because she didn’t fully complete that last rotation.
Oh…you must be the Russian judge! LOL
Best. Comment. EVER. LM*O
OWNED!
Good one. Still laughing!
the patterned shorts are clearly the most awkward thing about this photo….
wow. 1st. on afp. unless the computer is tricking me. don’t mock me folks, this is cool…
Not first. And I’m mocking you, because it’s decidedly not cool.
i agree with tom. decidedly not cool. we all had a huddle and discussed it, but as usual you came late…
As you can see, computers lie.
Yeah, no.
Those tricksy computerses.
FAIL!
JAMS!
patterned shorts were all the rage in 1985
Apparently, dropping children was pretty cool as well.
Child droppings.
Hahaa… awkward! Now I know what you have to do to get recognition on this site… fail big. WAIT, I CAN DO BETTER….
Because this photo is SO CLEARLY PHOTOSHOPPED. You can tell from the pattern in the shorts.
heh heh.
It’s so NOT photo shopped! The whole pic is a little blurry because the photog realized she was going to take a dive. Also, see the man rushing to her rescue from the left?
P.s. Homemade shorts! So cool.
because, you know, if the photo exists, its obviously photoshopped
“A Quiet Stroll” was broken by loud shorts.
BBBAAHHAHAHAHAH I like that “OOPSS” expression… XD
Oy. I remember those Jams shorts. They could definitely blind you to any cracks in the pavement that might overturn a stroller.
I’m interested to know whether mum had a pair of funky shorts on too. If not? Why not?! (way to let the rest of the family down!)
Breakdancing kids? Or did see she her parents shorts and immediately go into convulsions?
I’ll go with break dancing. It’s good to see the youth haven’t totally abandoned 80’s hip hop culture for the crap being churned out today.
There isn’t a single face in that photo… what ‘oops’ expression do you mean?
there’s the face of the person pushing the stroller
yeah you can totally see big sisters mouth and nose..
OMG! That poor baby!!! Looks like she stuck the landing…. on her NECK! Ouch!
Are you sure nobody got hurt? I clearly see head hitting pavement…………….

you’re clearly wrong Sarah… that kid fell frontward out of the stroller.. no ifs, ands, or buts about it…
My toddler falls regularly.
Lighten up, Francis.
Shame on me too for laughing?
AFP has posted a few that have made me uncomfortable to look at. Children in dangerous situations and positions is never funny.
I’m with you – it’s like the funny videos on TV where you wonder if sick parents encourage the children to do harmful things so they can win a prize. I know that’s not what’s going on with vintage photos like this, but we have seen parents do sick things for their 15 minutes of fame. Bah! It’s always funny until somebody gets hurt–then it’s HI-larious!!
Yeah lighten up, what trauma? If all falls we had as kids caused some stupendous trauma I wonder what would have been of most of us…geez!
Get over it cry-babies…. this picture is hilarious. Someone took some similar tumbles as a kid.
This is just as good as face slide
Who’ll think of the chiiiiildren???!!!! Seriously, lighten up. The kid is fine. The picture is funny if you are into that sort of humor (fact: most folks find falls funny), and had it been an adult, no one would have been so outraged because they aren’t precious little hot house flowers.
“Most folks find falls funny” is an awesome sentence!
LOL! Thanks!

That’s what I was thinking!
I think she was standing in the stroller to get a better view over the fence. Or perhaps she was climbing the fence. I do see someone on the left attempting to catch her.
“Honest, Mom, last time she landed on her feet!”
youch. this just makes me cringe.
I sort of looks like they are at a zoo. Perhaps a carnivore thinks there will soon be a feeding.
I bet she was standing up in the stroller, mom told her 100 times to sit down! Now look what happens, and everyone will blame the mother, *tsk*.
People only watch stroller races to see the crashes.
“Oh no, dear, she’s about to fall! Quick! Grab ‘er! …the GIRL, not the camera! Well…that works too.”
JAMS and Hi-tops!
EPIC.
Your computer was tricking you by my count.
This seems more FAIL than awkward.
At least she didn’t fall INTO the tiger exhibit.
I hate when that happens.
Yea right…no one was injured…except that KID! Boy, they sure do start contortionist training early over there! “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!” LOL
I think the kid was out of the stroller and throwing an epic hissy fit (or maybe doing her imitation of Linda Blair in The Exorcist).
That’d be my guess. They probably wheeled the stroller up to “gimmick” the shot.
No, this is what happens when you let pwecious wittle snowflake get her way and not make her sit DOWN in the stroller.
so true.
Whoa…live action awkwardness!
I appreciate the parenthetical remark about the child not being hurt, but I’m willing to bet her future SAT scores would be just a smidge higher if this hadn’t happened.
That is one weird way to fall out of a stroller!
My sister dropped me on my head while pushing a stroller. I have got to show her this one!
Looks like she was trying to jump into the lion enclosure at the San Francisco Zoo.
Sheeesh, when will children learn??
So flame me. I laughed …out loud… at this photo. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You put your left foot in… you put you left out… you put your left foot in and you shake it all about… you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself a—-….. UH OH!

That stroller sure does need a seatbelt!
Many people wonder how America became the litigation-happy society it is today.
Little Megan’s seizures were blamed on the psychedelic shorts. The high-tops, meanwhile, only gave her nightmares…
You know what? It almost looks to me like the kid was climbing on the fence to get a better view, and then fell. Awkwardly. Maybe the parents were even trying to get a picture of the kid on the fence, and captured this thing of beauty instead.
That’s what I thought too.
Looks like she hit the eject button
pretty much sums up my childhood.
the face of the woman in the technicolor shorts is priceless…I sure hope the kid was ok though. But it it funny, sorry, I laughed. I must be bad.
Not awkward.
disturbing.
I laughed so hard.
All of you talking about how heinous this is because of how OMG TRAUMATIC it looks, you’re the type of parents who are going to make your kids over-sensitive basket cases who can’t handle criticism or reality. Incidents happen. You put on your big girl panties and get over it.
I’d be interested to find out where this was taken.
It looks like the St Louis Zoo circa 1985
The picture shows further evidence of another shooter on the grassy knoll…
That sneaker and short ensemble is poppin’!
Is it sad that I’m more concerned with what the parents are wearing than I am about this poor child?
Poor kid! She looks like she is about to be punted
love the dad’s shoes
