Ever since the kite had been sold at Charlie Brown’s garage sale, it had lain in wait for the precise moment to exact its revenge. And one windy day in the small town of Lickspittle AZ, that moment finally came.
Yes! And look carefully at the grain elevator in the background. I believe I see a rifle barrel. Oh that kite didn’t go down by accident, my friends. It wasn’t the “wind.”
Pretty obvious that Samantha was not interested in flying her kite …”up to the highest height” or even …”up through the atmosphere”. No, into the back of Mom’s head would suffice for today.
That looks like Phoenix, Arizona where the grass hibernates and turns yellow when it gets closer to winter. Some people shave the hibernating grass and then plan winter rye to keep the lawn looking green during the winter. It’s a lot thinner so it can grow through the thicker grass and they wont kill each other. During the summer they have irrigation to keep their grass green by flooding the lawn with water every month or so.
However this looks really close to McDowell Rd and maybe 12th St so, yeah, maybe they do need to work on the lawn…
This pic was snapped in April in north central Kansas. Front yard is mostly bermudagrass with some patchy fescue/bluegrass/whatever. The former doesn’t green up until late May, while the latter greens up sometime in March. The yard is just fine.

Being attacked by the Human Hummingbird of Death of Destruction.
3 feet of pink crepe paper = $1.35
1 Thomas the Tank Engine paper kite = $2.48
Learning to kamakazi your mom = PRICELESS!
Oh no, Arron – you’re not fooling anyone! You think we can’t see past your diabolical plan!?
This is clearly an advance team from your army of KILLER KITES!
YOU FIEND!!
I see a second kite flier in the shrubbery across the street.

I lol’ed heartily. Excellent kite-on-mom attack!
WOW! That kid has a full-blown mullet!
looks to me like the sides are pulled back with a barrette.
HA! I wish!
Unfortunately, it was just the wind. Her hair is straight as an arrow.
This isn’t an awkward family photo, is it?
I knew Thomas the Train was crazy underneath all that usefulness!
I like how quickly Mom is getting her middle finger up and ready to go. Photographer – get ready to be flipped off!

Carrie: the early years.
The Wright Brothers under-achieving descendants shown here inventing the balsa wood crash landing.
I was attacked by a kite once….once!!!
Take THAT Mom!!! That’s what you get for telling me NO earlier!!!!
It’s all fun and games, until someone loses an eye!
Kites, toys for human children for hundreds of years…Now the kites are fighting back. Kitewars:Revenge of the kites
When toys attack.
The kid’s running away, lol!
Sadly, Thomas the Tank Engine’s first attempt at impersonating Jay Jay the Jet Plane went horribly, horribly wrong.
hahaha!
Yeah…not awkward. Sorry.
What’s not readily apparent is that the girl is intentionally steering it into mom as payback for not getting her the Hello Kitty kite she asked for.
I knew there was a motive!
For some reason, I find this neither awkward or amusing. I’ll check back later for something good.
AFP rule of thumb: if you can’t say anything amusing, clever or relevant, don’t say anything at all.
Yeah, yeah, I know. It’s not over-the-top hilarious. But I thought it was worth submitting.
And I was there. Trust me… it was awkward
Wow, thanks for keeping us informed.
WOW! This comment is RATHER awkard and VERY amusing…LOL
Or maybe work on the lawn a little?
April in Kansas. That’s as green as it gets.

(I can’t believe I’m discussing lawn care on AFP)
Can I ask what town in KS because this totally looks like where my granny lives!
Even flying kites when it’s NOT storming can be hazardous!
Aaron, Jen and Allison
Those are the best times to remember. I love it! What happened next?
Jen
Lots of thinly-veiled cursing, as I recall.
Ouch! Good timing for the photographer though.
That is exactly why Thomas is a train and not an airplane!
