There is no doubt of that – Maxine you are a very pretty girl!!

    • bitterness bites says:

She is a very beautiful girl. She sounds interesting except when she called him an “elf”. This will not get published so I don’t know why I even bother making comments. I have been making comments that are not nearly as critical as others on different pictures and they are not posted. Go figure. I just had to get that off my chest.

  2. Aussie Robbo says:

Maxine, stop foolin’ round and put him back up on the cake!

    Thankyou, thankyou……

Anyway, no-one’s said how beautiful Maxine looks….so I will.

  3. Peter says:

Its not how big you are – its the size of your…personality!

  4. Mateo says:

No joke. I went to high school with them. I had NO idea they went together/took pictures. This just totally validated 4 years of awkwardness and teen angst.

  5. PugMom says:

She is just gorgeous and I love the picture. They both look so happy.

AND more power to them both for not letting height differences interfere with their lives.

My sister was only 5 feet and she dated a really great guy all of HS and he was 6’5″..

Hope sister Valerie gives us the back story :)

    • Maxine says:

No need for sister Valerie to give the back story, I’m Maxine, the girl in the picture, with the scoop!

This guy was a senior and I was a lowly (heh) sophomore. I am 6′, and he was maybe 5’2… on a good day. My best friend was dating his best friend. He needed a date for the prom, and I was desperately seeking someone to take me to the prom. Voila, we were set up! I knew how short he was, so I made sure NOT to wear heels (flip flops all the way!) and I slouched the whole night, except for during pictures of course!

After prom, he graduated and went off to college, and I never saw or heard from him again. He was like a magical prom elf who came into my life for one night to step on my toes and make me feel like an amazon woman. :-)

And thank you for saying I am gorgeous :-) :-)

      • Doctor Lump says:

Yes, you look great, and that is no joke!

      • bun says:

        Maxine –

I went to your high school and I’m friends with Josh now. I think you should be lucky to have gone to prom as a sophomore and with a really nice guy. he is taller than 5’2”… maybe youre more like 7′?

it’s one thing to show this picture to your friends, but why would you post it online? so you have a soul?

        • Iggy says:

Why so harsh Bun? Maxine didn’t criticize your friend. The way she describes it, it sounds like a fond memory. And they both look great in the picture. The size contrast is the only odd thing about it. Chill out dude.

  6. Jessie says:

“Better to have loved a short man than to have never loved a tall”

  7. If that isn’t photoshopped my faith in the human condition has been reinforced mightily.

  8. Egbert Vop says:

  9. LAWB says:

This is almost an exact replica of my senior prom pic!

  10. Dorothy says:

He is the wind beneath her wings….chest….whatever. They look happy though!

  11. angelfirett says:

for me this reminds me of Sixteen Candles with Long Duck Dong and his hot American girl…teehee

  12. Snowrider says:

I’ve never jumped on the photoshopped bandwagon but the distance from her waist to the floor seems un-natural to me. Can anybody help me here?

  13. Anne says:

He’s looking up towards the lens and she’s looking down; must be on opposite sides of the “average height” scale. The They look really happy together … how sweet. Sigh …

  14. durhay says:

That boyfriend is not regulation size. Good luck getting an invite next year.

  15. carol says:

    Love is love.

  16. Denise says:

Random pedestal with nothing on it. Check!
    Faux greenery. Check!
    Bedsheet backdrop. Check!
    Ghost of Aunt Flo. Check!
    They nailed it!
(The couple is seriously adorable, btw.)

  17. Snowrider says:

I’m just trying to figure out where her left hand is……

  18. DecibeLeveL says:

For some reason the song “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker comes to mind…

  19. andi in NC says:

They both look so happy! I think this is a great shot! It’s so cool that they are both look completely comfortable with each other – this rocks!

  20. Katie R says:

This is like me and my date for homecoming freshman year. haha

  21. OrganGrinder says:

    Lucky dog, lucky dog!!

  22. Lilly says:

Is she wearing a wedding gown?

  23. al says:

    Motorboat, heh.

  24. Sue D says:

Sing it- Put your head on my shooooulder…. Whisper in my ear… (if you can reach it)

  25. Joben says:

Makes me want to quote “Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo” and I try not to quote that movie more than 2 or 3 times a week

  26. adrienne says:

A height difference photo? Totally belly-flop.

  27. R says:

I can’t be the only one who thinks the most awkward part about this is the terrible quotation marks around the prom’s theme/mantra/whatever.

    So unnecessary.

  28. Chatty says:

wow. I’m betting he LOVED all the slow dances!

  29. Teetsee says:

I’m having a hard time figuring out which one of them is average sized and which one is not.

  30. Millie says:

Slow dancing must have been interesting…

  31. Mah says:

Whatever size difference they may have, the chemistry is undeniable. The mere touch of hia hand upon her bustle has caused her to ignite.

  32. MellyStu says:

That’s okay, like most guys, he doesn’t want to look into her eyes anyhow. He has a valid excuse.

  33. J says:

I have a friend like this. He’s 5’4″ and only dates women over 6ft tall. He says “what can I do? I like to climb mountains. Yodel ay hee hoo!”

  34. jules says:

this looks like a doctored photo…

    • John R. says:

It’s important to use the word “photoshop”.

      • Alan says:

However, jules,if you do,you will be banished to the ”Photoshop Police”,who are a strange group of people who just delight in sounding important when they give reasons why THEY know it’s a doctored photo.

        • cheese pants says:

….exactly. even if the photo was taken before photoshop was blessed upon our un-edited photography.

          • K says:

……it’s from 2003. you’re joking, right? or just really really ill informed about software?

  35. Jennifer says:

Seriously??? Who wears a wedding dress to prom? ;)

    • Sihaya says:

I did. I altered and shortened my aunt’s old wedding dress. That’s how broke I was, and how completely divorced my aunt was. I had a great time, so I can’t say that it was a bad idea.

      • Canadianna says:

I wish I’d done the reverse: wore a white prom dress to my wedding. I would have saved myself a whole lot of coin.

        • gibsongirl says:

Oh my gosh, I did wear a white prom dress to get married. It was tasteful and beautiful and the theme of the marriage happened to be “from this moment” and frankly from that moment it went downhill and well, just like prom it had to end.

  36. LemurQueen says:

I think he got an “eye-full” at that prom!

  37. :( says:

Whats there to laugh about? I am just taller than average! If this is something to mock about. No wonder I am still single!

  38. Juls says:

I think this is sweet. And she totally looks like Molly Ringwald. I suppose that’s the awkwardness?

  39. Mike says:

From this moment, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to look you in the eye!

  40. Natty says:

Laugh all you will, but he’s thinking the view is pretty good from his vantage point.

  41. Mike says:

Put your head on my … nevermind!

  42. Hohlraum says:

    Lucky guy :)

  43. LB says:

OMG! I want to believe this is “Doctored”…but I don’t think it is. How high are her heels? Is she even wearing heels?

  44. mike says:

I wonder if she’s especially tall, if he’s very short, or if it’s a combination of the two?

  45. Sparky says:

Oh my these are my neighbors they are still together.

  46. Sammy says:

I can’t tell if she’s tall, he’s short, or both. Either way, great pic. He looks totally cool being that much shorter. Shows confidence.

  47. Joey says:

You’d think a photographer could spell “photographer”. :)
    Sorry ’bout that!

    • JJ says:

What are you talking about? I don’t see any attempt at “photographer” in the posts before this, in the photo or captions.

  48. Cassie says:

    OBVIOUSLY photo-shopped.

    • Nora says:

wow, only the second comment, quick-draw mcgraw! knew i’d see a comment like this in here.. enough already.

    • Gina says:

Right…. because people are so desperate to get an embarrassing photo on AFP that they are spending their time photoshopping old prom pictures… Think about it, really?

  49. rainydaze says:

Bravo!! To the both of them!
I have a low-rise friend who NEVER seems to date a woman shorter than 6′ (and is always dating); says something about not finding the eyes to be the most fascinating features of a woman. I have no idea what he is talking about.
