does Star Wars come to mind for anyone else? Like Darth Vader is the big head and Luke and his family.. ?
Good thing Dad never listened to his peers….and quit while he was A Head !!!
Dad is obviously the ‘head’ of the family….
You’ve heard of big brother. Well, meet Big Daddy!
Our daughter has just sent us this image. We are questioning her motivation!
He’s channeling Dick Cheney.
ROFL. My mother was a professional photographer for over 25 years. I TOTALLY remember when this was a TREND in studio photography!! She used the technique in a lot in wedding photos too. LOVE IT!!
Sort of reminds me of Star Wars movie posters with the big Darth Vader head in the middle.
this is sooo funny! my fav pic by farr.
This is the BEST photo ever…but gotta admit that the viewer comments are what really put it over the top. I have been laughing for 15 minutes. My cat thinks I’m losing it.
Boy, that family sure likes Richard Dreyfuss.
OMG…I was totally thinking he looks like Richard Dreyfuss!
Looks, its the initial art-make up for the Cape Fear movie campaign. Good job, mad men.
I’m with Harry and Amy–I definitely think the father would be standing with his wife and children in this picture rather than just a huge “floating” face behind them if he were still alive at the time. Awkward, yes. But also touching.
ITS THE FLOATING HEAD OF DOOM! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!
The glasses, the glasses….back then glasses were only one size–huge and all-encompassing. I had several pairs and now my teenage son makes fun of me when he sees me in pictures. What an odd statement to make by putting the father’s giant head like that…all I can think of is cult of personality or a freaky voice saying “I will rule the world! Buwah, hah, hah, hah.”
His family is always on his mind!
*Elvis crooning in the background*
You are always on my mind!
Dad : “Doctor,I’m still hearing voices in my head”
Doctor: “Let’s have a look…..ah,here’s the problem. You have a small family living in your right ear”
I’m pretty sure that family kidnapped me and made me take that picture with them. That little girl is my doppelganger–I even had that exact outfit and haircut
I remember how popular these pictures were in the 70′s. Wow I’m glad my family was so poor and dysfunctional that we never got together for a family portrait.
Same here. What a relief. Sort of…
He looks like the other guy from Napoleon Dynamite. Maybe this is his lost “where are they now” shot during the closing credits.
It’s so great to put faces to the voices in Dad’s head!
haha!
Photographer: “Look what *I* can do!”
It’s Zordon imparting some wisdom on Billy, Trini and Kimberly at the Command Center. Where’s Alpha?
Ken’s Dad .. by request only
Dad has a very Big Brother-ish feel about him
Love the mushroom haircut on the little girl.
Okay, Mother, just be careful with your shoulder there . . . OW! MY EYE!
Edit away, but i still think this is a memorial shot.
That’s what I think it is, too. It’s kind of sweet.
I always thought the left side of the brain was the creative side.
He doesn’t look too happy to have those people stuck onto the side of his head like that.
Well, three out of the four are happy….that’s pretty good.
What is it with some of you? I find this to be a rather touching photo.
It IS touching! It’s touching his eye and it’s touching my funny bone!
LOL!!!!
Well, for your information, that man is the father and husband of this family, and a couple of days before this previously-scheduled photo shoot he was tragically killed in an automobile accident. The brave, newly-bereft little family smiled through their tears and had the photographer take this picture with their departed, beloved father and husband superimposed from another photo. Imagine the tremendous courage it took these fine, decent people to do this as a loving tribute to that dear man whose loving embrace they would never experience again, but whose gentle spirit they would cherish for all their lives…….nah, I’m just kidding, I just made all that up.
“You were allllways on my minnnd. Always on my minnnnd”
That’s exactly what song popped into my head! Too funny.
Reminds me of the story of Athena in Greek mythology, and how she was born out of the head of Zeus . . . (he had a splitting headache . . . pun intended)
He must have a hard time getting in and out of cars and through doorways if his head is that large! And what it must cost to have a hat custom made!
Doesn’t matter….with a brain THAT big,he’ll work it out.
wow thats lame
Ha ha! This looks like the poster for a horror movie.
Yes, a Stephen King one! Is this family from Maine by any chance?
I’m WATCHING you…. Ha……………………..HA……………………….HAAAAAAAAAA
Father,,,and Criminal Mastermind
It’s like they are just a figment of his imagination.
So true!
Lonelyyy.. Im Mr. Lonelyyy.. I have nobodyyy, Im on my ownnn.. Ohhh, I am so lonelyyy..
(That was meant in response to the “figment of imagination” comment..)
Specs-tacular!
You were always on my mind…you were always on my mind. (Sing it, Willie)
LOL!!!!
Those pictures were so full o’ cheese back then. Who thought them up?? And yes, our family has one…meh…
Looks like mom is going to poke his eye with her shoulder.
“The Great and Powerful Oz has spoken.”
Guess we know who the head of the household is.
ha ha ha
I need a Facebook LIKE button here
In mythology class, I always had trouble envisioning just what Athena sprouting from Zeus’ head looked like…not anymore.
OMG! My thoughts EXACTLY!
Father is always watching! :-/
He seems to have an unusual growth protruding from the side of his face.
Sometimes I wonder what in the hell studio photographers are thinking!
I am the great and powerful Wizard of Oz!!!
Who is that behind that curtain?
PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!
LOL!
lol the best comment!!
Oh momma, those glasses are fabuloso!
