This is just like an MC Ecsher painting. I can’t make heads or tails of any of their home. Perhaps it is the lighting or the three layers of stairs or the painting that is too modern for this wooden contraption.
“Barb, We had a whole half a roll of carpet left over from the Johnson job. That Mrs. Johnson she had to have the best stuff you can buy and she threw a fit about the seams in the closets. And she ordered more than she needed even though we told her. Well, I know a real decorator way to use up the rest of that good carpet…..”
Seriously though, this reminds me of my aunt & uncle’s house when I was a kid in the 70′s. They had wall to wall shag carpet (I’m sure it was orange) and the had one of those sunken living rooms where the whole area in front of the fireplace was just a big carpeted pit. 70′s awesomeness at it’s best!

How thoughtful to consider that if the Jolly Green Giant stopped by, he might enjoy some nature photography at his eye level.
Stepford family.
If the cats were actually in this photo, you could have this pic up on the awkward family photos site AND the awkward family pets photos site!

Wait? What did I just say?
This is why most men should not be allowed to decorate.
That would have me climbing the walls . . . .much less the cats . . . .
why would you climb the cats?
Bwahaha!
There seems to be an M.C. Escher quality to this, but I can’t put my finger on it.
That’s what you wall wall-to-wall-on-wall carpeting.
Does the carpet matches the drapes?.. wait.. the drapes are carpet
Good one!
This reminds me of the stair case on the Brady Bunch!!

Were they trying to make their house look like a giant cat’s scratching post?
It looks like a giant cat scratch toy.
Is that carpet on the banisters???
Cat’s really rule this one giant stratching post of a house
It’s like a human version of a Kitty Condo!

My grandparent’s house has a sunken living room. It seems cozier being a foot below the other rooms for some reason.
what a sinister looking bunch they are, something bout the way they are staring down at you and the carpet on the wall is scarey within it’s self….
It’s like a giant cat scratching post…
Wow! Elaborately awkward!
Looks like something for cats to climb on. Where are the cats?
Have Staplegun, Will Travel.
i’m a little worried that the carpet might match the drapes…
it looks like a ginormous kitty condo, complete with scratching posts. wow!
OMG! Their house is a giant cat tree!
Here’s the story,
Of a man named Kenny,
Who thought carpeting
Would look on the stairs!
Sweet. They’re ready when gravity switches sideways.
Yes! LOL.
I would LOVE to know the story behind this one. And a three-armshelf combo!
Looks like dad is already dreaming up his next big home decorating idea…
Honey, where’s that attachment on the vaccuum for cleaning the rafters?
First Martha Stewart rule of thumb: sponge painting never looks good in a photograph.
Carpet, hu? Hm. Matching drapes? Love dad’s Thinking Man.
I definitely think this was a “dad decision” because mom is probably wondering how she’s going to clean it………
Where are the cats? Those are some of the biggest cat scratch poles I’ve ever seen!
“Let’s get some cats!”
Wheel of Fortune answer: Ansel Adams Family Robinson!
FANTASTIC!!!
ha!
and does the staircase lead to the padded room? Gotta love that light brown 1970′s carpet.
What ELSE are you supposed to do with all the left over pieces of carpet?
Bet the cat loves it!
Looks like the kind of bright idea my beloved husband would come up with….. Sigh…..
mt cats would be thrilled!
Looks like the Brady Bunch house (kinda/sort of)
you gotta love the 80′s
WOWZERS! that could easily be the brady bunch house!
It’s like one of those giant cat climbing towers.
This looks like a big version of one of those “cat trees” that you can buy at a pet store! Too funny!!
How big is their cat that dad turned the house into a giant scratching post?
Does this remind anyone else of the Brady Bunch house?!
Is that the Brady Bunch house before the rest of the bunch showed up?
it is!
AAAH! It’s like a cat condo! Sweet!
Is that carpet on the nuel post and landing beams?
Great, is that wood-effect-by-sponge on the remaining bits of wall?
oh! now I get it, bizarre.
