I don’t mind the medieval family pictures….think it’s a fun idea. But if you’re going to do it—do it. Dad—pony up and invest insome awesome medieval dresses (and shoes) for the wife & daughters!
Was this taken at the Virginia Tech duckpond? Sure looks like it. Hey, it’s got both water and a willow tree–must be the Virginia Tech duckpond, right?
Sir Robert stabbed the earth with his mighty sword and called it his own. He smiled sadly and said, “The only drawback is the occasional cold shoulder one must give to one’s family.”
I think this is adorable. It’s lovely when a family shares a hobby/common interest. And it’s a lovely family too. I especially like the fact they didn’t make the wife kneel. Very progressive. The husband has good hair. ” Is this my sword or am I just happy to see you?” his eyes seem to be playfully asking us. All in all, a family portrait I’d be proud to hang over my fake fireplace.

OK, not a stone as such, but definitely very stony. The soft grass is very deceptive … it’s actually hard sedimentary conglomerate down here by the lake.
Snigger not thou hideous beetle-headed pignut! … Just wait until I can get this sword out …

Ahhhhh! The dad looks like Danny McBride in ‘Your Highness’! Hahahaha!
It’s only a flesh wound!
Gotta respect the man who knows when to put his sword down.
“Arise, Sir Loin of Beef…..Sir Osis of Liver……Milk of Magnesia……Quarter of Ten….”
“But I don’t wanna be a renaissance man!”
This isn’t awkward. This is totally RAD.
those girls are so cute
I don’t think this is awkward, I think it’s lovely
I don’t think the daughters quite fit into the time period for this photo. Especially with the bangs.
Who knew The Lady of the Lake had daughters? The brunette is clearly theirs. The other must be Merlin’s.
If only Dad had placed his arms behind his back: “Come back here and take what’s coming to you. I’ll bite your legs off!”
LOL!!! I didn’t know that the black knight had such cute little daughters!
That’s a lot of “come hither” for the little girl…

I was just thinking the same thing…these dresses are faux RenFaire!
How much is it to rent a “family” for a photo? This must look great in his mother’s basement!
tee hee
Art, music, puffy shirts and the mullet reigned!

Exactly what I came to the comments to ask!
Hi, I’m Rachel and this is my family. I’m the one in the blue dress. It was taken in Dearborn Michigan outside my dad’s old office building.
Thanks, Rachel, for sending this in. The picture is wonderfully awkward.
What!?!? They moved the pond and willow tree from Virginia Tech to some office park in Dearborn? They’ll freeze up there!!
C’mon, it’s clearly Nottingham or something like that.
Rachel, please tell me was this a serious family portrait or a joke?
What exactly does a hobbit dad wielding a sword do in Dearborn MI? I don’t think they would let him into the Ford plant dressed like that.
There’s a joke about ‘cold shoulders’ in here but I can’t quite get there…anyone?

Men. It’s always about their sword, isn’t it?
For whom the willow weeps.

Is this a family member?
No, I’m not a family member. I’m alone… so alone…
I wholeheartedly agree, Drunkbunny.
I didn’t think this one was that bad either. I like it.
The branches hanging down are a special touch.
I love this
When the girls whine they say, “It’s not Faire!!!!”
Have at you, foul cur!

(Shakes head sadly) Thou art not the true king. When art thou going to tell thy wife?
The dude’s a hobbit. Even the kids are taller than him.
