Behind The Awkwardness: Clench - Behind The Awkwardness

“After the wedding, my husband’s friends drove to the reception and started calling repeatedly after about 10 minutes while we were trying to take the pictures. January in Nashville was cold – 19 degrees! It was cold, and we kept having to stop so he could answer the phone. Needless to say, after about the 3rd phone call, I had enough! (Note the fist.)”

Him and his friends should have known better. He’s a married man now, he already has her purse to hold, he don’t need to hold theirs too.

  2. Meg says:

At first I thought it was one of those cheesy photographer ‘set up’ pictures that are sooo bad. And, I can see answering your phone quickly ONE time to help with directions, but really, give it to a groomsman or someone else to talk to them.

  3. Debby says:

Just because a phone rings…DOES NOT mean you have to answer it!

  4. Shelba says:

I didn’t notice the fist, until after I read the caption. What I noticed was that it looks like she’s ready to swing that vase of flowers.

  5. MN girl says:

Umm… 19 degrees is cold? No. You live in Tennessee, your winters are balmy.

  6. Jack says:

    “Yes, chief? …Great Scott!”

  7. Suldog says:

Why in hell was he even answering the damn phone? Toss it in the car or something until after the reception. Sheesh!

  8. Cynthia says:

Your husband looks like Jason Bateman. Cute him some slack. LOL.

  9. Anthony O'Neill says:

Maybe this is his rescue call, you know like when you are on a blind date that isn’t going well?

  10. Anthony O'Neill says:

Sorry, hon. I gotta take this

  11. Sal says:

This is where I got married! I would have crushed my hubby too if he were on the phone. I would have spiked it right there in front of Wightman!

  12. Kootie says:

she’s gonna let him have it with both barrels…

  13. Alan says:

Two phones got married. The wedding was no good, but the reception was fantastic.

  14. T-Bone says:

But hey, you ended up married to Jason Bateman, so that’s got to be pretty cool, right?

  15. Lars says:

Hey, atleast it created one of the most amazing wedding photos ever! I would display that in my living room.

  16. Suki says:

this is why I am not married. His friends come first. :(

  17. Evelyn says:

Lady Liberty has run out of patience!!

  18. Noodengr says:

Seriously? your groom could not put his cell phone away for his wedding day?
How many times did it ring during the wedding night? I am a guy and I think you would
have been justifed swinging that fist horizontally and making a connection.

  19. Frank says:

Is she going to punch him with a fist or hit him over the head with the vase?

  20. mike says:

that is why the bride and groom should give their cellphones to someone else for the day.

  21. Abe says:

    Can you fear me now?

  22. magpie says:

    oh it’s cold alright…

  23. Harry says:

I can’t talk …. what do you mean you’re pregnant??

  24. shelly says:

Yes, you look gorgeous!! Hope he’s behaving for you!

  25. Modine says:

This is hilarious! I have never seen the Fist of Death in a wedding photo before.

  26. Noneya says:

The look should have been enough. It says it all.

  27. Skipping Lunch says:

Unless you are a doctor, no one is important enough to interrupt your wedding!

  28. Lgirl says:

    I love this shot!

  29. steph says:

The fist isn’t what he needs to worry about….it’s that bouquet aimed at his face….. “and we kept having to stop so he could answer his phone”….because his phone didn’t have an off button?

    • Michelle says:

I agree! Every phone has an off button or he never should have even brought his phone to his own wedding. The only person he should have wanted to talk to that day was his bride. I hope they are still married.

    • Kris says:

I was thinking the same thing….TURN IT OFF!

      Or better yet…..leave it home!

      • Candi says:

You never leave the house without a phone, especially your wedding day. You never know if the caterer has to call, the bride’s dress has a rip, the limo breaks down, so, SO many things could go wrong just on the way to the church, let alone before going down the aisle.

At best, he should have turned it off once the ceremony began, and kept it off until photos were done, or handed his phone to a trusting family member.

  30. Ed says:

    Great dress, though! :D

    • Wheezy says:

Agreed, great dress. You should’ve smacked him with the flowers… I think I am banning my fiance from having his phone at our wedding.
