Got mulch? LOL. The brown mulch and the brown clothes …that’s a bit funny…but the comments – they’re a LOT funnier….and you just gotta love Maureen… Thanks.
I don’t think it’s awkward. I think it looks like two healthy young people who aren’t opposed to some physical labor. Their home; area looks beautiful.
It is called Awkward Family Photos, and there’s an emphasis on the awkwardness of photos here. I know exactly zero about photography, but I know there’s something awkward about a lovely young couple posed in front of an enormous pile of dirt.
I love how everything is so centered. The tree is growing up right between them, and not only the mulch but the neighbors garage is right in the center. And anyone who can’t get excited over a pile of mulch that big and beautiful isn’t a gardener.
You’re as obnoxious as those who cry “Photoshopped!” at almost every picture.
Now that I have that out of my system, let me just say that if you don’t find a photograph of an attractive couple in front of what is likely a mix of dead leaves and cow dung awkward, then there is no hope for you. You simply haven’t a sense-of-humour.
I wasn’t being obnoxious. They’re an attractive couple getting ready to do yard work. If they were standing in front of a pile of dirty clothes then we could assume they were going to do laundry. Do attractive people not do dirty work?
Yes, my first thought was “What a cute, good-looking couple!” It’s rare you get perfectly-normal looking folks in such a hilarious picture. The awkward usually stems from dated hair, clothe,s or glasses. In this case, it’s the pile of dirt that makes it great.
Ditto to cocomojoe. Attractive, smiling people (check) who are posed normally ( check)….DIRT! Will the photographer please report to picture composition 101 on Monday.
I had the same question as Maureen…I mean if it was a professional photo it would be odd/awkward but its just a normal everyday picture of a couple taken outside. I kept looking in the background for copulating dogs or something odd…

You Have Got To Come Over And See The Gophers At The New House !
What an exciting couple.
Mulch ado about nothing
Good one.
I can’t believe that NOBODY has made any referance to “Close Encounters”. Now that would have been funny!
or a reference to “The Naked Gun.” …But this is our hill and these are our beans…
I love looking at dirty photos of couples on the internet.

Poor Maureen.
At the very least, they have color co-ordinated their outfits and I give them a 10 out of 10 for matching their pile of mulch.
Mulch. Not awkward. Next.
Oh yeah, you blend!
EXCELLENT! Absolutely one of the best delivered movie lines EVER!!! KUDOS!
I can dig it!
Yes, I used to work with Caleb! Good work, man. Good work.
I don’t think it’s awkward. I think it looks like two healthy young people who aren’t opposed to some physical labor. Their home; area looks beautiful.
Agreed.
I believe the funny part is supposed to be that they blend into the pile of mulch with their wardrobe choice…
Agreed.

I know them!!!
well done. Very colorful
Maureen, you are so lucky to have everyone explaining the joke to you. Jokes are always SO much better that way.
You’re so right. So the dirt pile is the funny part…..right?
May their love blossom and grow.
I love the SNOW shovel laying against the mulch.
What’s GOING to be awkward, is shoveling the mulch with that snow shovel – unless the mulch is very very dry.
I love how everything is so centered. The tree is growing up right between them, and not only the mulch but the neighbors garage is right in the center. And anyone who can’t get excited over a pile of mulch that big and beautiful isn’t a gardener.
Amen and Amen!
Exactly! I want that mulch.
I can’t help but wonder if they have to truck all that mulch out to the distant trees. Hopefully they are planting something closer.
“Hi! We’re the Browns!”
This was the photo for their Earth Day card.
It’s interesting how theyre wearing brown colored clothing in front of a pile of dirt.
Her: What’s up with you?
Him: Not mulch.
Corny, but funny.
You may now leaf,thank you.
It’s really weird to come to awkwardfamilyphotos.com for some laughs, only to see your picture at the top.
Is that you? Then maybe you can explain why you would choose to pose in front of a pile of mulch!
I love this photo. There are exactly three colors represented…green, white and brown. It’s a work of art!
Yeah, that would be awkward.
I wonder where their wedding registry was?
orchard supply hardware, of course. doh!
It seems as if their running out of ideas for the backscreens at the Olan Mills studios these days….
win! that’s the best
Is there a backstory?
LOL
Where’s the awkward?

I am stunned and saddened to learn that there is no hope for me. At least I can take some comfort in knowing I’m not half as obnoxious as cocamojoe…
And I don’t know if I still have or haven’t a sense-of-humour.
In the pile behind the couple.

Don’t encourage him…
