Is this supposed to be Santa Clause or Dumbledore?

  2. Sandra says:

This is so strage – I have the same photo of me aged six with this same old gnome. It was taken in Glasgow around 1957 at one of the large department stores. I thought back then he was a bit strange – what a coincidence

  3. DHC says:

This has to be a Halloween Photo hence the scary santa thingy for bad little children and the kids have to be dressed as scared little bad kids….it’s the only thing I can think of…*shouldershrug*

  4. Blood Ninja says:

I put on my robe and wizard hat

Shame on you, Sir McKellan, for playing Santa between takes on the “Hobbit” set!

This looks like something out of a Supernatural episode

This is more like Wizard Claus than Santa Claus.

I think this photo is pretty neat, actually!

  12. Jen d says:

I am trying to figure out what the white shadow stuff is on the creepy elf/gnome/spawn of Santa’s arm is. I have come up with 2 plausable theories.
    1. Shadowy ghostly images of children scared to death by creepy elf/gnome/Spawn of Santa. 2. Crazy X-ray photo showing deformed bones of creepy elf/gnome/Spawn of Santa.

    • Dylan says:

      It actually looks like cobwebs.

    • Sunobo says:

It reminds me of the instant pictures that my mom would take in the early 60’s. The film came with a fixer that we would spread over the picture to prevent fading. Areas that didn’t get covered sometimes had that overexposed look.

    • schoolnurse says:

I think it is the souls that the creepy elf/gnome/Spawn of Santa sucked out of the children he saw”when they were sleeping”.

  13. Booboo says:

David Lynch called. He wants the poster for his next movie back.

  14. Noneya says:

This finally explains the line in the Christmas carol “with scary ghost stories and Christmasses long long ago”

That’s my mum! (in the middle) She says it was worth it for the awesome presents they got. (It was the 50s, hard times….)

    • Erin says:

Angela, is that really your mom? The little girl on the left looks EXACTLY like my 4 year old daughter! Its actually very strange. It would be neat to see more photos to see if it’s that close of a resemblance!

  21. Alan says:

“Please Sir….I’d just like a lump of coal”

  22. michelej says:

Those girls look terrified, and can you blame them? Even the holly looks menacing!

  23. HoshiToshi2000 says:

Is it me…or does that guy look like Woody Harrelson?

Actually, I think this photo is insanely awesome.

  27. andi in NC says:

Christmastime in the Village of the Damned!!!

    • Lincoln says:

Funniest comment I’ve seen. I’m laughing out loud despite myself. I think he’s plotting the death of children the world over.

  28. andi in NC says:

*screams, turns, runs down hallway flailing arms*

  29. lava girl says:

Just.Plain.Creepy….. I would sleep with one eye open on Christmas Eve if I ever sat on THAT Santa’s lap. *yikes*

Wow what year was this? That’s a creeping looking Santa, though I suppose the face looks a little jolly (kind of like a clown looks jolly but scary!!). Those poor girls looked shell shocked or terrified, but they are sure are beautiful!

  39. senora_jennifer says:

Is this an elf or Santa? Is that a mushroom he’s sitting on?

Why is he sitting on the toilet?

  44. armchair hero says:

Talk about the ghost of Christmas past. I’m a little scared.

  45. Chim Richalds says:

That’s not santa, that’s a gnome. He is sitting on a toadstool and wearing gnome boots and a gnome hat. Still creepy nonetheless, but seasonally inappropriate.

    • Kelly says:

*read with thick Russian accent* In Soviet Russia, Gnome IS SANTA!

    • Jane B. says:

Yeah, but there is some holly in the background, so it sort of makes up for it. 😉 And I agree with everyone else. Creepy. This definitely looks like it was taken in the 40’s or 50’s somewhere in European country….
