Blaire Ashley Pancake. I read the LIFE magazine article about her over and over! We were about the same age, I was from the north, and I had no inkling of the world of pageants that existed down in the south.
I remember so much from that article that I recognized her face before I saw “submitted by Blaire”.
Wow.
The pancakes were my neighbors when Brooke was little. My first daughter and Debra Erin ( their second daughter) were baptized together as babies
This is a paegant family. Their the Pancakes. The oldest girl is Blair Pancake. She went on to become Miss Tennessee. I thought i recognized them. Their hair is just too perfect.
That’s crazy! They’re really very pretty, though.
Perfect illustration of the word “kitsch”.
if t wasn’t for the mom being so old it would look like the 4 barbie sisters from the 80′s i had all 4 dolls
Yep, this just screams pageant. And the South. I can hear the Southern twang all the way through the internet. (yes, I’m from the south, and had family members who also competed, and they also looked like that too).
I think I need some eyedrops now.
I don’t know why, but I really like this. They all look genuinely happy. I don’t find the mix of plaids and flowers clashing at all. Quite the opposite … very creative and sophisticated, in my humble opinion. The leggings have the grid plus flowers to tie in the theme; the dark sweaters have a grid and flowers at the bottom; and the light sweater has flowers that coordinate with the flowers on the darker backgrounds. Each outfit is related to the overall theme, yet different. A WIN in my book.
Humm…..I’m curious to see what your house looks like.
FTW!!
AHAHHAHAHAHA +1 internet for you!
I’m sensing a Laura Ashley-esque meets the mauve and country blue rabbits of the 80s… AMIRITE?
They look genuinely happy? Mom looks a little worried here. am loving the mom and daughter’s matching outfits.
I agree with you skippa. I love the creativity behind it. The picture is really cute! Reminds me of barbie and het sisters.
Wow!!! So stylish!!
This makes me appreciate my family a little bit more! :O
Im dissapointed there is no boy in this picture.. would be interesting to see what he would be wearing
A pink, long-sleeved button down shirt, a sky blue tie, white plastic dock shoes and white dockers….I had a few Ken dolls when I was little lol
Everyone is saying “Pagent.” I say, “Anywhere in the South.”
I moved to the South in the early 90s to finish high school. I was goth. Everyone else looked like them.
Uh, Corrine, with all due respect… we didn’t *all* look like them. Sheesh.
Depends on the area of the South… I went to a school full of girls just like the ones pictured (alternating with the girl-mullet / camouflage set). Just like Corrine, come high school, I went goth. No kidding.
Wow. I’m speechless
*nods in agreement*
Looks like the human versions of Barbie, Skipper, Stacie and Kelly!
WIN!
This photo was previously posted on AFP a while ago. Why is it on here again? No new awkward photos left?!!
Definitely early 90′s attire… and I do believe this is Blaire Pancake’s family as another poster stated.
They HAD to be a pageant family!! wow…
Looks like mom has some pretty strong genes, all those girls look like her!
(not that there is anything wrong with that as she is pretty).
Either that or we have proof that cloning works.
I’m pretty sure the oldest girl in the photo is Blaire Pancake. She was Miss Tennessee 2006
Her family was big into pageants and they were in several documentaries regarding pageants.
“Pancake”? Was she sponsored by a make-up company?
Did the kids just get back from their “Full House” remake audition?
That’s what I immediately thought of!
That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!!!!
I like that the oldest daughter was allowed to show her individuality.
I remember flowered leggings. It seems like so much awkwardness could have been prevented if we’d just skipped the 1980s.
I tried some flowered leggings in the early 90′s, but some bikers thought my legs were tattoed.
LOL at the caption! Love it!
I will never understand why people put plaid and flowers together. Ugh!
….and the coordinating sweaters…… and what’s with all of them bending one knee?
Not a Y chromosome within miles of that spot.
Reminds me of Toddlers and Tiaras
That’s just what I was thinking!
Would like to see a current picture… How’d they turn out???
The little girl on the left looks like Stephanie Tanner from “Full House”.
And the little girl in the middle looks like Cindy Brady.
The eldest girl looks like a very young Hayden Panettiere circa. “Remember the Titans.”
and they say that russia is too strict and stringent with their children.
Oh wow, wow, wow, oh wow. I can’t even count the number of busy patterns in that photo. Oh wow.
They are beautiful but this is definitely a failed attempt at coordinating! Either don’t do it or go all the way!
Must be from the 80′s… look at the hair. It’s practically the Full House girls with their mom.
I’m pretty sure the one in the pink is a cardboard cut-out someone threw in @ the last minute.
I love this picture. It is so 90s! I think Mom is a former pageant contestant. A little strange but still sort of sweet. She cared enough to inflict matching outfits!
Gee, do you think they do pageants?
Geeze, imagine all of that hair to clean up. They must have gone through vaccuums every 6 months
Actually not sold separately, looks like Mom and daughter on the left are a matching set! The other 2 are “not included but can be purchased in bonus packs.”
Waaaayy too much cuteness going on here!
a little modeling experience goes a long way…
80′s pageant girls!
Looks like an audition photo for “Toddlers and Tiaras”
Please do NOT light any matches around all that hair spray
I especially like the Barbie posed legs on Mom and middle daughter
Looks like a shot out of “Toddlers & Tiaras”.
