  2. cassius says:

super cute !!!! kick ass grandma

  3. jay says:

I personally think it is a great picture. Grandparents have precious little time on earth to enjoy their grandkids. Soak it up I say… the huge knife in reach of the little girl is kind of funny though

  4. Ted C says:

Maybe her reign is over and she’s abdicating the throne.

  5. Fru Uggla says:

Granny!! you’r the Princess, the Queen and the King!

  6. Bev Marek says:

I am a 65 year old grandma to my 5 year old granddaughter and 1 yr. old grandson. Last year I dressed as a “fairy something” I wore a long frog green dress, elbow length gloves and a tiara. I was hoping for shoulder length gloves to cover my flabby arms.My granddaughter and I went to a Cinderalla Ball at the children’s Museum.Yes, I looked foolish to everyone but my granddaughter. Who was I wanting to impress? HER!!! and I did. Next year I may dress as “Buz Lightyear” ,if I can find the helmet. Maybe that Toy Story cowboy. When Thomas is talking, he will tell me what he wants me to be. I will comply. For some reason, I don’t think it will be a Prince. Grandma’s “UNITE”. Dress up. You will never regret it.

  7. Mileaway says:

I have to agree, this Grandma is the coolest! Check out the cake too! A wonderful memory of her Grandmother the little girl will carry her whole life. :-)))

  8. Anna says:

This is the sweetest picture ever. Look how nice and happy Grandma looks! 🙂

  9. Ashley says:

Love this so much! Once a princess, always a princess. What an awesome memory and picture for both of these “little girls”.

  10. Eva says:

    I thought this was adorable!

  11. MT says:

Hee hee, gran has the better fitting gown! I think it’s sweet AND awkward…*ducks for cover*

  12. Jennifer in Santa Cruz says:

Okay – It seems almost unanimous this photo does not belong on this site. I think it’s adorable! Please got back to some 80s spandex or something….

  13. Jane in Fort Smith says:

This isn’t awkward at all! In fact, this is exactly the kind of grandmother I hope to be when the time comes!

  14. LCN says:

Winner of coolest grandma EVER award!

  15. Cpt. Haddock says:

I’m sorry, why is this aukward? Its just a cute kid and her Grandma, whats aukward about this?

    • Wench says:

My thoughts EXACTLY. I often babysit for my 3 yr old neice and if I refused to play dress-ups (which often includes being a fairy) she would simply not understand why. The girl in this photo is, what, 6 maybe? Hard to tell, but this is not an awkward photo, just a cute one.

  16. ln says:

One of the most precious pics EVER. Love, love, love, love, love. Beautiful grandma (great grandma?), sweet child, awesome idea to get Grammy to dress up too! Now go find me some freakin’ awkward photos!

  17. Nancy says:

It is very conceivable that this is GREAT Grandma and not Grandma, which makes the picture even sweeter! Love it!

  18. A D Fogg says:

Isn’t the older woman the Fairy Godmother?

  19. Lisa says:

I think the picture is so cute. I think it’s great that the grandmother and granddaughter are celebrating in such a special way. I also think that it is awesome the way all the AFP viewers see the awesomeness in it. Kudos to you all.

  20. Sunshine says:

Next to the sweet old guy on the bicycle posted a few months ago, this is one of the sweetest pics I have ever seen on this site. *smiles and tears*

  21. KJ says:

LOVE LOVE LOVE this photo!! What an awesome Grandma-her grandkids probably have THE best time with her!!

  22. miriam says:

sorry afp, this just doesn’t belong here. maybe you guys can have a spinoff site of just precious heartwarming family photos? this pic needs to be there! i wish my grandma was this awesome… yes, this is the grandma i will strive to be!

  23. Karen says:

Awww, that little girl will NEVER forget Gramma on this day. What a wonderful idea to file away for my future grandchildren!

  24. armchair hero says:

Way to make me tear up, AFP. Sweetest. Pic. Ever.

  25. Gina says:

Sorry…not awkward! That’s an awesome grandma…and a fab cake! Usually I agree, but this is far from bad.

  26. Maureen says:

Awe! This is sweet! I love it that grandma dressed up too! Super sweet and not awkward. The look on the girl’s face seems to be one of a child ready to tear into a cake. I love this one!

  27. I am so in love with this picture, I almost want to frame it, then I would be the awkward one. What an awesome family!!

  28. Christine says:

This is so sweet! I want to be that awesome in 50 years. In the meantime, find some real awkward photos!

  29. Simon says:

    Wow, what a cake

  30. Amanda says:

Looks like the little girl is wearing one of Grandma’s extras.

  31. Mellybrown says:

Awww, that’s not awkward, that’s a grandma who loves her grandgirl!

  32. pastel disaster says:

That really big knife does add some tension though.

  33. cheetah says:

I agree. This is precious and the little girl looks delighted. It will be a memory she has her entire life.

This maybe the best photo on this site I have ever seen.

  34. Jessica says:

if you look at the cake – it says happy birthday to TWO names – maybe the girl and her grandmother share a birthday & they both had a princess party… my daughter shares her birthday with her grandmother & i can totally see them doing this!

  35. CuriousT says:

Is AFP running out of awkward pictures? Say it ain’t so!

  36. Jane says:

I love this! This is something that little girl will remember her entire life. I’m sure this isn’t the only time this grandma did something special for her granddaughter. Very sweet!

  37. TylerKY says:

The grandmother isn’t playing dress up…she IS the original Cinderella.

  38. sally says:

I think Grandma was a beautiful woman in her days. She looks great now, too! Go Grams!

  39. Amanda says:

    Love the cake! Yum! 🙂

  40. Fawn says:

while not awkward….what would make this hilarious is if the girl were dressed as the evil step-mother! 😉

  41. DeeDee says:

What an awesome, fun grandma. What a blessed little girl.

  42. ms-nancy says:

    What a great grandma!!!

  43. Madamegato says:

    I don’t think it’s awkward – it’s very, very cute. 🙂

  44. kathryn says:

From the look on her face seems like the child knows something is strange about grandma being dressed like Cinderella.

  45. shazza says:

Aaaawwww I think that is cute

  46. Amy says:

I think that is sweet. Her granddaughter probably wanted her to dress up so she did! There are not a lot of people that would do that for someone else.

    • Red says:

Exactly what I was thinkin, Amy! Reminded me of something my 3 year old niece would ask me to do.

“We’re going to throw you a princess party! You can even dress up like a princess, too!”…..”Yay! Yay! Yay! I want you to dress up like a princess with me, Grandma!” =)

  47. Kit says:

This isn’t awkward at all! What I see in this picture is a grandma who deeply loves this little girl! She was truly blessed by having this sweet lady as her grandma.

  48. Cassie says:

I think it’s cute that Grandma decided to dress up for a picture too. 🙂

  49. Red says:

    Best. Grandma. Ever.

  50. jamie arnett says:

im sorry, but this is precious!!! what an awesome grandma!!!
