Size Doesn’t Matter

The middle one kind of looks like Michelle from Full House!
Is it just me or does the middle one remind you of Mary Kate or Ashley Olsen a lil bit?
i’m from Romania and in communist years, little girls had this kind of bows in their hair. they wore them mostly in kindergarten and in school. so when i saw the picture i felt the girls were from Eastern Europe.
they look like they have lufas on ther heads.
My friend went overseas to adopt a girl and boy from an orphanage. They keep all the children’s hair short so they all look like boys. When the kids were brought in when visitors are there or potential parents they put those huge gaudy bows on the girls so you can tell them apart from the boys. My friend has a pic of her little girl then age 3 with a big pink bow like that on her head. She is now as Floridian as can be and 13 years old!!
The girl on the left looks so much like my mom as a little girl, this picture screams Russia!
I think you’re all just as cute as can be!
I don’t think this is very awkward. Yes, maybe in USA. But, these hair accessories are still worn by all little girls in Russia and Ukraine. So, it is very normal and common to see pictures of young girls like this. I myself have many pictures like this when I was little.
The Blond on the left was an early Model for Walt Disney, back when he was considering a Blond Minnie Mouse.
The dead flowers make it a bit sad.
I can totally see my niece and SIL putting these on my great niece today! The ones she wears now rival the ones in the picture.
I’m an American living in Russia, and little girls still wear these bows. They wear the big white ones on the first day of school (known as First Bell) and also on special occasions. I think it’s darling!
In Soviet Russia, bow wear *you* !
In Soviet Russia…
…bow wear *you*.
Ahhhh! Gotta love those Soviet era fashion symbols!!!
Adorable and so typical of little girls from Russia.
Cutest thing ever!
Yep that’s how it was in Russia back in the day.. the bigger the better.. I remember getting upset when mom made a small one lol.. my mom said she wore those till she was 18!!!
The girl on the left looks like she might actually be rockin’ THREE bows…
Princess Leia!!!
Is it just me or do the two girls on the end look like they are wearing loofas in their hair?
YES!! That’s what I thought those shower scrubbers!!!
Too bad they couldn’t find a bird . . .
HA! Portlandia here we come!!
That must be some of those shower scrubbies I like on the first ones head.
The wilted flowers match the mood of the girl in the middle.
Awww, They’re so adorable.
Modern day kids (mostly babies) wear bows this huge, just add some zebra stripes, rhinestones and flowers larger then their heads.
they don’t look happy
They’re from Russia.
Really?
So what? Russian children not less happy then ameriacan. Just more cute.
They are adorable no matter where they are from. I would be proud if they were my girls.
My Russian friend said that they are taught to not smile in photographs.
Yup. I grew up there and we were told not to smile in photos. Even wedding photos and the like. Completely straight faces. And I wore those huge bows until the day we moved to the US. I loved those things!!!
I duno that one on the left looks kind of content smug….”thats right, TWO pom poms”
I bet they could pick up Radio Free Europe with those things.
Thank you for the great laugh!
Come to SW Oklahoma…kids legitimately still wear bows like this.
Shower poofs.
When you don’t have time to make ribbon bows.
Good one!!
oh god i grew up in the post-soviet russia and yet i had those too! itchy as hell and somewhat overdecorative
Wowza! those are FAN-Freaking-TASTIC!
Bring them back! Bring them back!
