Behind The Awkwardness: Petpourri
November 8th, 2011
“This is a photo of my family and its menagerie (ferret, snake, cat, dog) circa 1985. Less than a year later, we added a pig to the mix, and our childhood also included at various points a goat, raccoons, iguanas, chameleons, ponies, mice, rats, too many small lizards to count and at least one bird that was killed by a ferret.
The best parts of this picture are the expression of sheer misery on my then 14-year-old sister’s face, and the averted look of embarrassment worn by Missy, the matriarch Labrador.”

He’s right about his sister and the lab’s expressions. Apparently dogs can be embarrassed.
I wish my mom were cool enough to hold a snake in a family photo. Also, that cat looks ready to go on a killing spree.
Okay, I’m a little freaked out right now. The boy in the picture reminded me a little bit of my ex when he was a kid, but I know that’s not him and It’s definitely not his family. But the mantel, windows, and built-ins look like his parents’ house, and his name is Will. Did this photo come from an alternate universe?
Oh, is it my turn? Hmmm. OK I’m going to go with Mr. Fluffy….in the library….with the candle holder….
Shoeless Will!
