Thumb War

“What a proud moment for mom. Little did she know that there was no thumb sucking allowed in the picture!”

Mistake On The Lake

“We stayed at this lovely lakeside resort in McCall, Idaho and the hope was to capture a scenic and memorable photo for our annual holiday/Christmas card. ‘Memorable’ is what we ended up with because we dared to suggest our two year old say ‘cheeeeeeze’ for the photo.”

Body Surfing

“My cousin took this photo of her husband and two sons. The older brother was supposed to be standing & smiling but apparently had fallen over.”

Dirty Bird

“That was 3 year old me at a school Halloween party in the gym. And as far as I know, that was supposed to be Big Bird. And I’m still traumatized.”

Meet Fred

“Here I am as a child holding my favorite ‘doll’: a one-cent bathroom tile my mom got me at the hardware store. His name was Fred and he lived in a luxurious dollhouse, had a vacation home and a boat. Not pictured are his tile wife and tile triplets.”

Tube Tops

“This is a portrait of me and my mom taken at the local Woolworth’s in the late 70’s. My mom thought it would be cute to take photos in our tube tops. I posted this pic on FB as it’s always been one of my favorites; I thought it was so sweet. Two weeks later, a friend saw it on FB and suggested that it could be a contender for your site. I HAD NEVER THOUGHT OF THE PHOTO IN THAT LIGHT, but now that I see what others see, I can’t stop laughing.”

Shirts And Skins

“We went to a hotel for a special Easter egg hunt and brunch. We waited in line for 40 minutes, in sweltering heat, so my husband took his shirt off. I’m the horrified mom while my kids didn’t bat an eye when daddy peeled off his shirt.”
