Woke Up Like This

“Yes, this is my freshman year photo. And yes, my parents demanded a reshoot.”

Discovery Toys

“This pic was taken in the early 90s after my great grandmother had just died. My father had built her coffin and my cousins and I thought it would be fun to play around in it before her burial. I’m the child in the middle.”

Directory Assistance

“Our 2002 church directory family photo. I just told my parents I submitted the photo to AFP and they both said, “I don’t think there’s anything awkward about the picture.”

Gello Shot

“My 2001 school photo. In order to perfect this aesthetic masterpiece, I put a massive amount of gel in my wet hair, then I bent over and swung my hair around and blow dried it upside down until the gel hardened completely… I got a little lightheaded each time, but clearly worth it!”

Surrender

“Our perfect family photo shoot was only a little hampered by my 2 year old granddaughter who decided to throw a complete fit during the sitting. We gave up trying to get her to look good and let her ‘do her own thing.’ She ended up at the bottom of the stairs and we went on without her…so to speak.”

The Rookie

“My sister’s family went to a theme park in NC and she decided her youngest was ready for his 1st roller coaster ride. Apparently, she was wrong and he takes after her. Everyone thinks this is photo shopped because her husband and the other 2 kids are so calm. She tries to ease her conscience by telling everyone it was a kiddie coaster but I’m pretty sure he’s scarred for life.”

Boss Baby

“My great-grandmother worked for a photography studio in the 80’s. She was watching us one day and decided to surprise my mother with professional photos of the three of us. This gem was one of the pictures. It’s safe to say that my mother never put this one in a photo frame and it’s the center of family laughter when we bring out the photo albums around the holidays. I love how my sisters look so cute in the corner of the photo while I am in a food coma floating in the sky.”
