Puberty Ruined Christmas: A Photo Essay

“My parents make my sister and me take a picture at the top of the stairs every Christmas morning, and these two were taken a few years apart.  The first picture is one of the last happy Christmas morning photos we have, which my parents titled “A Very Merry Pre-Pubescent Christmas To You.” The second photo shows what happened to our happy Christmases after we became teenagers. They claim puberty ruined Christmas.”

The Visitors

“I have been going through my Pop’s old photos when I stumbled upon this gem. This is a picture of my two older sisters. They looked creeped out. I asked Pop ‘Who is that creepy dude in the boxers and ginormous dog?’ he says ‘Beat’s the hell outta me, but there is your Mom in the background, completely oblivious to what it takes to be a mother, the crazy old bat!'”

Batter Up

“This is me, my brother, and my sister on the couch with our Uncle John, who was getting tired of us. None of us seem to care.”

All Work And No Play

“My family just found a hilarious old photo of my sister in the process of drawing the exact same picture again and again. It reminds me of Jack in The Shining.”

Something Strange

“I commissioned an icon painted on wood for my brother’s baptism. The priest didn’t pay attention and sanctified it.”

Wedding Wet Willie

“This is a photo of me and my older brother at my wedding. He suddenly gave me a wet willie during our photo shoot, but I told the photographer to take the picture because it captures our relationship to a T. My brother’s been giving me wet willies my whole life, even to this day. It’s usually the first thing he does whenever I see him. Basically it’s his way of saying ‘Hi.’ This wound up being one of my favorite photos from my wedding.”

The Dark Knight

“Right before my sister’s wedding, Batman appeared out of nowhere and told us we must have a picture with him. After this, he walked away and wasn’t seen the rest of the day. We still have no clue who this masked man is.”
