Vacation

Werewolf In Blackpool

“Blackpool c.1986. I’m the one in the mask and furry gloves standing with my brother. I wanted to be a werewolf and refused to take the costume off for photos or anything for that matter and kept it on all day.”

Lady Of The Desert

“This is a picture of me around 10 years old at the ‘Lady of the Desert’ in Beatty, NV. I have no idea what my mother was thinking when she took it, but knowing me I probably begged for a picture next to the giant statue!”

Cemetery Chic

“This was taken in New Orleans circa 1986. I am pretty sure it was 105°F that day. My mother told my Dad and I to pose in front of the mausoleums. Is there any doubt that we were tourists? Is there any further doubt that we made that cemetery look good? This picture is a reminder why Jam shorts and midriffs went out of style.”

Down Time

“We drove from Arizona to California & took a day trip to Catalina Island. I took a photo of our three children who were taking a break from the day’s activities.”

The Grand Banana

“Family vacation around 1974. We drove all the way to California with my father taking dozens of rolls of film. By the time we did a swing by the Grand Canyon, we were all tired. We got out of the car and this is the sole photo my father snapped of us. We spent about 3 minutes there. Long enough for my mom to finish that banana.'”

Fun With Gravel

“I’m the big sister and while on a road trip in Chicago, we went to a playground and I was the ringleader of this little escapade which my little sister still brings up to this day.”

Puzzler

This is a photo of my dad and my sister’s boyfriend putting a puzzle together while on vacation in Phoenix since it was so stinkin’ hot to go outside. I guess this was also a good way to keep track of the baby.

The Puffy Jacket

“My mom when she was younger went on vacation and the hair and jacket are worth a thousand words.”

Another Mine

“Dad loved to visit mines and quarries. The rest of the family had little choice but to go along for the ride. Apparently, we rebelled by pulling our sweater sleeves far out of shape. Despite the mandatory rubber outfits and helmets, Mom always looked stylish.”
