Fish People

“What was intended to be a mockery of people who take portraits with their pets now makes us mock-worthy.”

Doggy Style

“Our family went to the local portrait studio with our dog, Prudence. My dad, who loved her very much, considered her a member of the family and therefore wanted her to be a part of the photo. When we posed for the picture, Prudence would not stay still so my Dad straddled the bench to keep her still. This photo hung in our house for years, and, the truth is, we were oblivious about its awkwardness until a close friend pointed it out.”

The Bird Is The Word

“This is a photo of myself, my older brother, and our Grandpa, and our two parakeets, Snowy and Max. We drove from Cincinnati to Seattle in 1997, with the parakeets in the backseat with us for 6 days. We stopped in Iowa, in a McDonald’s parking lot to visit with our grandparents before hitting the road again.”

Sweaterrific

“I was going through old photo albums at my future father in-law’s house to scan childhood images of my fiance for our wedding slideshow. Both my fiance and his father are pretty masculine…played football, served in the military and in law enforcement…but somewhere along the way, my fiance’s former stepmother managed to dress the guys in these terrible outfits and drag them to an Olan Mills for what I can only imagine was one of the worst afternoons of their lives.”

Solidarity

“Barcley has this sore on his face that he won’t stop scratching. I avoided the cone for as long as I could but today was the final straw. He seemed so miserable I wanted to show my support.”
