Catch Me If You Can
“At my best friend’s wedding, we were extremely determined to catch the bouquet.”

Over It
“I’m about 3 in this picture. It was taken for the church directory. From an early age, I was already over it.”

Scouts Honor
“My brother and I got our pictures taken in our classy boy scout uniforms. The photographer asked us to look to our right, expecting us to turn our heads and look right. My brother and I kept looking forward and only moved our eyes, assuming that was what he meant. The awkwardness in the photo explains how confused we were by his direction.”

Lapbrother
“The fact that my sister is superimposed as a giant ghostly head distracts from the more disturbing details– like the fact that I am sitting on my older brother’s lap and holding hands with him, and that we also have matching glasses. I don’t remember a lot about the day that we took this photo, but I do remember thinking that my brown striped sweater was my ‘cool’ sweater and I insisted on wearing it. The fact that my collar had a longer wingspan than a bald eagle is a nice finishing touch.”

Our Little Secret
“This was during our annual family photo shoot…except that isn’t my father. It’s the photographer.”

Style & Profile
“This is my little sister on picture day. I remember she did not want curls in her hair that morning. The profile says it all.”

Three’s A Crowd
“My three cousins all have birthdays very close together in October and weren’t thrilled to share their Jack-o-Lantern birthday cake and party. ”

Window Dressing
“This is my husband and I on the morning of our wedding 20 years ago. We were having studio pictures taken and the local photographer proudly rolled out this faux bay window and told my soon-to-be-husband to ‘peek in from outside.’”

The Tan-Trum
“We attempted to get a family photo with my grandparents and all the grandkids. Charlie was not being too cooperative.”
