“In the photo is my grandpa holding me as a baby in 1989. After grandpa retired, he started a side job as a clown, where he’d go to birthday parties and do magic tricks. He also often wore his boxing shorts from his days as a heavyweight boxer at Michigan State. He was dressing up to entertain the grandkids that day, and the boxing/clown combination certainly made for an interesting photo.”

“This is a picture of me blowing out candles at my birthday. At the time I loved that clown and he came to a few of my birthday parties, but now I look back at the pictures and they just look…horrifying. I’m really surprised I’m not afraid of clowns after seeing this picture.”

Circus Circus
“My mother has this obsession with making clown outfits for people. One Christmas she had sewn clown outfits for me, my husband, my sister, her husband, and each of her 5 kids. That’s 9 total. She didn’t think it was weird at all. “Just keep it,” she said, “because you never know.” So I decided to make HER a clown outfit for her next birthday. That Christmas, this is what she asked for. We paid for her to go to Wal-Mart with the grandkids and get their photo taken.”
