somewhere years back, the mom of this family saw a picture like this with their children posed the same way. at that moment, she knew it was her destiny to have 5 children and follow in their footsteps.

  36. Hap Hapablap says:

I can’t look at old family photos like this and not think of how many of the offspring died in their youth of cholera, polio or even the old dropsy.

  37. tara says:

Standing means they are not dead!! Many old pictures were actually of dead people/

  38. blain says:

Vintage photos like these always give me the creeps. The people being photographed always look/seem creepy. Maybe it’s just the clothing, and or, the black and white photograph. But vintage photos like this always will creep me out. They all look like siblings, are they?

  39. I actually really like this photo very much – the composition, light, tones are splendid. Nothing awkward about it – truely a piece of art.

  40. jess8lop says:

What I want to know is how the mother kept her figure after 5 kids…

    Great symmetry too

  46. Keikokakes says:

They actually had another daughter, but they had to leave her out because she’d just had a growth spurt and was the same height as her older brother.

  47. debbie says:

The reason that they are all so skinny (and look rather deranged) is that they had been stood in this particular pose for nearing 18 months waiting for everyone to achieve the optimum height for this photograph to work.

  48. dr. d. says:

wow… someone do a least-squares-fit on that family!

  49. darcy says:

  50. Raymond says:
