Yep, even old-timey folks did it.

This one’s actually pretty cool.
Did they have cell phones back then? Look at the bars!
…and they lived DIRECTLY under the stairwell.
Am I the only one creeped out by the ghostly flower vase/squid thing in front of the youngest?
Didn’t anyone smile in pictures back then
And you can clearly see that hapiness runs the family!!
“Photographer” (NOBODY SMILE, BUT YOU IN THE MIDDLE WIGGLE YOUR EARS!)

It’s a stunningly beautiful family photo, why do people have to pick apart *everything*?
Mom did her best to complete the series, but her darn uterus fell plumb out!
Look at the size of Dad’s hands…
This is my favorite of all the awkward photos. I may just have to pose my large family like this for the next family photo. : )
Bringing you more awkwardness in more places
Haha don’t say cheese!

Why the long face?
I’d really like to know who posted this and where/when/who it is. One of the kids in this looks identical to my nephew. Can anybody help me here?
Youngest one born in 1905 … so photo is from about 1908/9. Stevens family of Iowa. Don’t know who posted this or WHY to this site.

More Bars in More Places…
somewhere years back, the mom of this family saw a picture like this with their children posed the same way. at that moment, she knew it was her destiny to have 5 children and follow in their footsteps.
I can’t look at old family photos like this and not think of how many of the offspring died in their youth of cholera, polio or even the old dropsy.
Standing means they are not dead!! Many old pictures were actually of dead people/
Vintage photos like these always give me the creeps. The people being photographed always look/seem creepy. Maybe it’s just the clothing, and or, the black and white photograph. But vintage photos like this always will creep me out. They all look like siblings, are they?
I actually really like this photo very much – the composition, light, tones are splendid. Nothing awkward about it – truely a piece of art.
What I want to know is how the mother kept her figure after 5 kids…
Great symmetry too
You’d think dad would wonder about those last two blond ones…
The near perfect 45 degree gradient is mind blowing
I thought the Dalton’s were only 5….
Soruck of Vulcan crashlands on Earth in 1874 and learns to fit in without arousing too much suspicion.
Holy crap – get the giant freakin protractor! This is too precise to have been estimated by mere mortals!
They actually had another daughter, but they had to leave her out because she’d just had a growth spurt and was the same height as her older brother.
The reason that they are all so skinny (and look rather deranged) is that they had been stood in this particular pose for nearing 18 months waiting for everyone to achieve the optimum height for this photograph to work.
wow… someone do a least-squares-fit on that family!
i love those boys boots.
Unseen to the human eye, Mom is rebelling in pink flip flops.
