Sylvia is going to get Margret for having grandmother make the friggen cake chocolate and adding “boy” action figures. She peers at mom taking the photo with her famous “stink eye.”
Quite the picture – after watching her sister “take the cake” she knew she could hardly wait until she was 14 and boy when she hit 14 she really “took the cake” in more ways than one – was it ever fun!!!!!! (she was always the quiet one)
She isn’t interested in the cake. No one’s going to eat the cake. The cake is a symbol. The cakes is mocking her former sibling, while giving YOU a harsh, yet, subtle warning!
I just thought my sister was sending me a picture of her & my cousin at Grandma’s house. Although Grandma never did put action figures her cakes. My sister was simply protecting her prize from the evil cousins…
What does that say about our childhood?
You know, I found myself thinking about this photo periodically throughout the day today. Would it be creepy if I printed it out and framed it as art in my own home?
OK, yes it would. Move along then.
I would recommend that you do copy and frame this..It is so awesome. I tell people that is me in the window..Quite the conversation piece.
Ok you can clearly tell that it’s a chic obviosly holding the cake the wrong way, you can see the first button is clasped at the top of her sweater……the figure in the right rear window I think is a disgruntled family member who never had a birthday cake or party for that matter and wants to attack the chic and keep the entire cake for herself….freaky if I may say, or a set up.

Not a bit. In fact, it’s my intention to have this image printed onto a t-shirt. It’s just too damn funny and weird to exist only on AFP — well, there and in a stack of old snapshots in someone’s bottom drawer.
“Margaret believed the door would protect her from the shrapnel of the bomb inside Sylvia’s cake. ‘Yes, this will be a very happy birthday, very happy indeed’, thought Margaret.”
Yes, it was fairly common for people not to smile in photos. Photos were for special occasions only, and some folks were camera-shy, not sure how to act, or self-conscious of their smiles.

Oh no, here she comes with . . . THE CAKE!
Tessa, I think you’re gonna have to ask for rights to this one .
Be careful with that cake Eugenia . . . I’m not sure which sister is scarier!
Emo birthday to you…
“…there was a girl that lived here, but that was A HUNDRED YEARS AGO”
This was taken right before the birds came, right? Yikes.
Blair’s Witch Cake Project
As Polly posed with the cake, she got a strange sensation that someone was watching her.
I’m looking for Alfred Hitchcock to make a cameo in this photo.
The new novel from Stephen King, “14″. It will scare the hell out of you!
If Carnival of Souls had cake in it, this is what it would look like.
Okay, this one finally broke me – the tears are still flowing down my face
I love this photo!

She peers into the camera and all the while she’s thinking, ” I HATE CHOCHOLATE CAKE.”
Totally Kids in the Hall, beautiful snappy
This is the funniest photo I have ever seen (and I come from a family of photo freaks)!

The cake is a lie.
It should be made into a movie. It’s too preciously creepy.
OMG, It reminds me of Psycho. It is too funny!

This photo would freak out the creator of The Ring and The Grudge.
The comments thus far have been classic!
OH MY GOD that’s my best friend! wtf you guys, she doesn’t know her picture is being posted on the internets!!!

The prequel to “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane”, now wwe know why Blanche doesn’t like birthday cake.

Garage sister:
“Marcia, Marcia, Marcia”
Cake sister:
“She’s not looking at me AGAIN is she? *sigh*. Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful….”
beautifully spooky.
It seems like a still from an old Hitchcock movie or Stephen King novel. Very creepy- I don’t think I would want to attend this party.

I just noticed the three claw marks on the bottom of the door….. now the puzzle is beginning to fit together…..”he he”
It has a fascinating Ingmar Bergman quality to it.
Creepy….who’s the kid staring out the window?
Now I hear the music from psycho playing in the background.
I’m telling! MAWM, Tessa took the cake outside and is holding it wrong!
Notice the scratch marks on the bottom left of the door. Makes the photo even more creepy…

I see dead people…… with birthday cakes
I haven’t seen the standee from Three Men and a Baby in a while.
forget all the other crap, what kind of action figures are those on the cake?!
