It looks so cramped because when the photographer switched from the vertical directory pose, he or she did not re-arrange the family for the horizontal shot. This is my pet peeve, I used to work for this company (I recognize the background) and now I hire and train photographers for another directory company.
Looks like someone tried to PhotoShop the red-eye out of the little girl’s right eye. Either that, or she’s got a black grape stuck in her eye. Cute family, though.
The daughters are super cute! But I’m kinda concerned about one of them, I wonder if she has some hands or something. As for the brothers, I think the bangs looks great! Kinda Zac but black version
They are awkwardly cute. The tall guy in the back has the same mouth as the little girl at front. But, yes, he is gigantically tall compared to the rest.
I think the reason this may have been submitted as awkward is the obvious contrast between the tall son and the father…..obviously not looking like any of the rest of the family. Jenny!!!!!!

There’s something not quite right and downright creepy about this family photo…. it looks like it was tampered with and someone or something got photoshopped in there. Huh… maybe it’s just me.
I think they had the hair light above and to photog’s right. The boy’s hair is shading his left eye but not his right. That’s why the right eye is so bright.

I agree. It looks like the young guy’s right eye (his right eye, but on our left) was tampered with in MS Paint or something.
It could just be they did a bad job digitally removing the red eye.
