The most awkward part of all… I recognize this place. It’s in Arkansas. Those are not nose clips. They’re Razorback novelty noses (note: not any nose protection at all).
Oh my goodness! This is MY family, my dad and my two sisters. I went solo in this contest and won the 1st place prize in my division. Wow, I never expected that we would make the awkward family photos. This was absolutely hysterical!
I used to work at that water park, and was a supervising lifeguard for the first year of this contest. The pool is actually 8 feet deep at that part, and the wall is an additional 5 ft above the water. We had a bout a 15 foot area in front of them cleared of swimmers for safety reasons, but there were SEVERAL competetors.

Belly flopping is super dangerous! There was a man who died once from doing that!
haha yes he died “once”.
Does anyone else notice the awkward tan on the man in the back, to the left?

it’s peter pan 20 years later, flying children off to neverland.
What is on their noses?
Razorback noses….for Arkansas Razorbacks
It’s so obvious who the professional red-belly diver is in this picture. Look at the form on Dad. Like a swan, he is.
Ronald McDonald has snapped and he has hostages.
lol
RED SWIM CAP!!! HAWWW!!!!
OUCH! I could just hear them hitting the water
That can’t be good for your innards.
I wonder: who would sponsor such an event?
Dab was so excited he didn’t wait for his girls to finish taking their street clothes off…
The guy on the microphone was voted worst Roy Orbison impersonator.
Aw, I think that photo is adorable, albeit painful to think about the impact!
It’s cut out of the picture, but they were actually just shot out of a giant compound bow.
I love it!
The girls are going in feet first but that looked like it had to be a bit painful for dad.

Is Wild River Country even still open? It seems so quintessentially 90s to me, just as 8-Wheels was for the 80s.
Does no one notice the fat guy in the background grabbing his belly?
Yeah. I think he’s prepping his belly for the flop.
Soooo cute! Not awkward at all & nice posish on the dad’s part
looks like there’s hardly any water in that pool…
And hardly any other contestants. Must be the first year of the invitational.

woah woah woah! let’s get technical now
How sweet! Truly an endearing family photo…this will produce stories for years. “Hey remember when…?”
Aw man, red BELLY invitational? Let’s go home Cletus.
Too, too FAB! What a wonderful memory – and great photog…Mom???
Arkansas: It’s so much more than just the Red Belly Invitational Tournament.
Holy crap…I’m from Arkansas and I didn’t even know we HAD such a thing. Wow. I’d better start training….
Haha! You might say that idea was a “flop!”
poor girls. daddy, why’d you do it??
LOOK! Super Red Belly saved the kids right on time! Hooray!
this is amazingly cool
you noticed how the kids had to drag the dad in?” Come on dad! dont be scared!”
