Was he playing or just posing?
They could have left out the accordion suitcase in the foreground.
This photo though not that awkward is not uplifting.
Soon afterward he gave up the accordion and went on to star in Revenge of the Nerds.

I really like this photo, even though it’s a bit of a downer. I like the muted colors and the composition of it. It just works, somehow. And it has a surreal, almost creepy dreamlike/twilight zone feel to it, which is how I imagine his music sounded. I like it a lot.
