There’s a healthy dose of adult fear for ‘ya.

  2. Tierp says:

Is that Bill (the Aussie) S?

  3. Karissa says:

is that at alcatraz in san francisco???

  4. Rebecca W. says:

Even though it’s a really old style, I’m pretty sure the kid is facing forward – towards Dad – in the carrier, and has turned around to see the water. No way he would be able to get out. Still… it’s a pretty scary, and totally funny, photo.

  5. SmartAzz says:

Mom to baby in back pack: I suppose if all the 1 yr. olds jumped out of their parents back packs….You would too !!!

    * early stages of peep pressure…

  6. Carole says:

HA-HA I’d say this shot trumps Michael Jackson’s “Blanket.” Wait, where’s the paparattzi?

  7. Samantha says:

I’m 15 and child-less and this picture makes me so nervous!

  8. lynny says:

I think it’s hilarious, but my heart did drop just looking at it. It is terrifying as well!

  9. Ann says:

Kid survived. Now in college. What I want to know is, where’s the third one? He’s missing. Did he already go over?

” It’s very simple Mr. Bond. All I have to do is press the ejector button in my pocket and… Bye bye baby…”

  13. Sasha says:

I’m not a mom.. but I can barely stand to look at this.

  14. Gordon says:

The most scary part of this photo is the question of what Pops is doing with his right hand… seems he’s the one holding on for life! Maybe this Harry Potter wanna-be could have magic-wanded the kid to safety anyway.

  15. Nams says:

Oh my god. I think this is my cousin and her husband!

  16. Bethany says:

Des…if you had a would not talk like that. You’re probably some 11 year old trying to be funny.

  17. Quentin says:

He doesn’t look like me. He looks like Harrison Ford.

As far as danger, this isn’t even in the same ballpark with letting your kids play football.

  18. Saintlover says:

I had one of these back pack type things for my son when he was little, there is a ‘seat belt” type thing inside that straps them to the “seat” in there, unless the pack comes off his back, that kid isn’t coming out. Its darn near impossible to unfasten the kid and get them out when you want them out.

    • eye says:

The voice of reason! Thank you for that! Obviously the baby was safe or he would NOT have left bubs in such a dangerous position! Duh!

  19. Mark says:

I love the parent who said, “they are perfectly safe when use correctly.” Would one of the ways of using incorrectly be dangling it over a waterfall with a kid in it?

  20. Herne says:

“Now where has that baby got to again??” This photo is just so funny!! =)

  21. AwkWerrrd says:

So that’s how Tarantino dresses in off-season… and HOLY WOW -> that hand!

  22. dono1 says:

Now we know why they named him Cliff.

  23. Donna says:

    I’m a mother and I know I really shouldn’t but…

    HA HA HA!

I’m just basking in the glow of this family’s awkwardness.

  24. thom says:

The next thing you know, 6 year old boys will be flying 10,000′ feet in the sky in Colorado in huge helium balloons and disappear from the gondola. 🙂

  25. jaclyn says:

that man looks JUST like my dad. twins?

  26. Dan says:

I’m single/childless and I find this pic scary and disturbing!

  27. Ali A says:

Well, that made me uncomfortable. I don’t have any kids, but I can’t imagine ever having the need to carry a child on my back.. and in public! Oh wait… and a kajillion feet up. Awkward, yes. Messed up beyond belief? Definitely.

    • JustAmyLynn says:

It’s so much easier to carry a child on your back than in your arms, especially when you’re on, I don’t know….a hike?

Plus you have both hands free to help another child.

  28. Snowrider says:

I just love the wonderful tension that this photo provides! It’s like you can go away for a while, come back to it a few hours later…and…yep…the little kid’s still teetering on the egde.

  29. Raz says:

I like the excitement and pose that the mom contributes to the photo.

  30. Bree says:

Oh my! What over-reactions! I have a child, and have worn him in many different style carriers, all of which have been safe. Child carriers are very safe when used properly. This child is just turned around at the waist, and the backside of the carrier, probably comes up under his armpits. It would take quite a bit for that kid to kid get out of there. There was probably also some sort of strapping system inside the carrier that isn’t visible in the photo. My son is the king of speedy escapes, so I understand that children can be fast, but my goodness people!! The photo is funny and gloriously awkward!

  31. joe says:

    Is that Quinten Tarantino?

  32. Erica says:

I know that the baby’s probably very securely fastened in his carrier, but the mom in me is so nervous even looking at this picture. Yikes!

  33. maridon says:

It really frightens me to see that baby hanging out of the backpack like that…

  34. Des says:

OMG….that is scary (yep your right the ones w/kids would find this disturbing…I have a 5yr old lol).

  35. gruven_reuven says:

I can’t look at this picture!!!!

  36. Lucy says:

Definitely a heart stopping photo. I’m pretty sure Mom smacked the crud out of Dad when she saw it.

  37. Laura says:

Ahhggg! – the vertigo combined with the flat-out scariness of this photo is really making my stomach churn!

  38. cory says:

you can take a pretty good guess as to who has kids just by going over the comments… i think the photo’s pretty funny. (yep, i don’t have any kids)
