100% PhotoShop. Focus on grass is NOT the same as the trees on left (same depth of focus) or the people. Still funny though, I hear my dad looking at the father in this pic.
no i understand…if they aren’t goofing off, and really arguing, poor bride is probably wondering why they can’t stop long enough for her to have a nice day
part of me thinks that they’re deliberately going over-the-top as a gag photo.. but it’s not done in such a way that convinces me thats 100% the case, leaving me confused.
The bride’s dad is so close that he’s pretty much yelling in her ear. That why she’s cringeing and tilting her head away. The mother is being fussy & fixing the vail.
Well, I’m the mom in this photo and I wish I could explain but I have NO idea what was going on here. We all about busted a gut laughing when we saw this. Can’t say I’ve ever seen my dh make this face before. It is not posed, this is something a relative caught in between the professional’s photos. I personally love it because for once I’m not the weirdest looking one in a group shot.
Ooops, I should have scrolled down further.
It looks to me like you are saying “you look so cute…” and the father is yelling, “I blinked!! (pointing to eyes) Take it again!”
As for the grass/trees…it is the landscaped area outside the Founder’s Hall at our local university. I was kinda wondering myself about the odd mix of flora though it looks very nice when you pull back for the formal shots and see ALL of it, lol.
I love this picture. If I were the mom or bride, I’d frame a copy of it and hang it on the wall. Yes, wedding days are wonderful but all them have this moment as well!
Thanks for filling us in, Marci. I’m relieved to hear that no deaths or divorces were involved in the taking of this photo. Guess it was just one of those spontaneous Kodak moments.
Great pic….for all those folks who are “photoshop, photoshop!…yep, photoshop, I tell you” crazy; You just can’t ’stage’ this kind of ‘in-between shots’ authenticity. If I had the courage I’d send in my own family ‘authenticity’.

The best day of her life… not.
Mom doesn’t look very dressed up for being the mother-of-the-bride.
step MOM …
It could still be her biological mom
My husband’s mom wore a t-shirt and jeans to our wedding. Compared to her, this woman is dressed to the nines.
Maybe she’s the AUNT of the bride? Wife of the groomsman in the tuxedo? And they are showing her how not to fight?
It was her mom. I know them!
LOVE this pic, Marci! LOL
As abusive as the father’s hand gesture looks, it’s the Mother’s opinion of the Groom’s “size” that will probably ruin the wedding night.
LOL good one!
Totally!!! Awesome. ;-D
Parents probably got a head start on drinking that day…
BRIDE probably got a head start on drinking that day . . . .
And the bride didn’t start drinking early enough
Looks like NONE of them had a drink yet!
meanwhile, I’m trying to figure out how you get pine trees and Pampas grass as part of the same background—-
EXACTLY!
What? You think pine trees grow only in the North and snow?
Wait for it…wait for it…wait for it…
PHOTOSHOP!!!!
I bet the two halves of this couple weren’t even on the same continent!
[And don't hate on me - I'm usually on the anti-Photoshop squad - I get at least one for purposes of humor, don't I?]
100% PhotoShop. Focus on grass is NOT the same as the trees on left (same depth of focus) or the people. Still funny though, I hear my dad looking at the father in this pic.
Pampas grass grows near pines and redwoods in the SF Bay Area. It’s a nasty ecological menace here.
It’s called landscaping and that is not a pine tree, it is more likely a Colorado Blue Spruce or an Arizona Cyprus.
I don’t even understand what is happening here, but the Dad’s expression is hilarious.
Wow. This is awesome. It’s not only awkward, it’s inTENSE! Poor bride!
ya!
I find this picture kind of sad actually.
Why sad? The dad could be goofing off and the bride just doesn’t think it’s funny…
The mom doesn’t look too stressed out!
no i understand…if they aren’t goofing off, and really arguing, poor bride is probably wondering why they can’t stop long enough for her to have a nice day
how sad (but awkward nonetheless)
Awkward for the guests!
Reason #1,256,893 to elope or just live in glorious sin forever.
Agreed. I haven’t had much reason to regret eloping, but family dynamics captured on film like this reaffirm our decision.
ditto.
SIN FOREVER FTW!!!
Maybe Dad is sneezing, that would explain the bride’s expression.
Dad is soooo happy that the wedding will be over soon. No more hearing about flowers and cake and imprinted napkins and all that baloney.
I’d really like to hear the story behind this one!
How about it Marci, can you fill us in? (I’m hoping the poor girl (you?) isn’t really as miserable as she looks!
I agree; this is one of those photos where you REALLY want to hear the story.
Yes, I wish someone would fill us in.
haha, funny pic.
Wow. This is a good one.
If you all just knew this family… this is way funny… I love it…
part of me thinks that they’re deliberately going over-the-top as a gag photo.. but it’s not done in such a way that convinces me thats 100% the case, leaving me confused.
This photo looks staged – as if it were for some movie or TV show
Possibly even Photoshopped.
I agree it looks it like a gag photo.
The bride’s dad is so close that he’s pretty much yelling in her ear. That why she’s cringeing and tilting her head away. The mother is being fussy & fixing the vail.
That’s what I see.
Yeah, I don’t think the bride is upset as much as she’s like, “Geez, Mom — I’m about to get married. Enough with the spit-baths already!”
This reminds me of my own wedding day, with my dad melting down over the birchbeer dispenser. *sigh* Good times…
i think dad is sneezing. daughter is grossed out/annoyed/startled and mom is being mom…..making usre her daughter looks her best. not very exciting.
Is it just me, or does it look like there is a tarantula on top of her veil???
I feel so bad for that bride…
Well, I’m the mom in this photo and I wish I could explain but I have NO idea what was going on here. We all about busted a gut laughing when we saw this. Can’t say I’ve ever seen my dh make this face before. It is not posed, this is something a relative caught in between the professional’s photos. Thanks, Marci, it’s fun to get the back-story on these pictures.
Yes, thanks for affirming it wasn’t anger……….you acutally looked too calm for it to be anything but an awkard photo. BTW, cute daughter!
You have a great attitude, Marci. I’m glad you all were able to enjoy this photo!
Thanks Marci! I love backstories on the photos!
You have to admit that the sneezing theory is a good one though!
I was thinking….maybe there was a bee flying around and they were trying to get it away??!!
Ooops, I should have scrolled down further.
It looks to me like you are saying “you look so cute…” and the father is yelling, “I blinked!! (pointing to eyes) Take it again!”
Thank you for the info
Looks like there’s a branch or something at the top of the veil that the mom is looking at…? Huge spider perhaps?
“Two men! That’s how many I have killed for trying to photograph me!”
I think the best man just ralphed on the maid of honor.
Oh, and by the way, nobody was arguing…we just aren’t a very photogenic bunch, lol.
Dad’s warning to the photographer: “I want only the BEST photos for my little girl’s wedding! I can kill you with two fingers!”
the BEST comment!! LOL!! I almost sprayed coffee all over my laptop!!
Marci, what was going on with the grass and the pine tree so close together? Looks like two different climates, ha ha!
I think this picture is hilarious! Totally something my family would do, and clearly a joke.
Dad looks like he’s just licked his fingers to comb down bride’s eyebrows and mom is adjusting veil. Bride – pure annoyance.
I thought at first this might be an new husband irritated with the photographer, but then I looked closer. This girl looks EXACTLY like her Dad!
Thanks for filling us in, Marci. I’m relieved to hear that no deaths or divorces were involved in the taking of this photo. Guess it was just one of those spontaneous Kodak moments.
I think dad is about to poke himself in the eye.
“Daddyyyyyy…you’re ruining the picture! ONE finger, it’s ONE finger”!
Oh, woops. Just read the fill-in by Marci. Sorry.
Thanks for writing in and letting us know!
Great pic….for all those folks who are “photoshop, photoshop!…yep, photoshop, I tell you” crazy; You just can’t ’stage’ this kind of ‘in-between shots’ authenticity. If I had the courage I’d send in my own family ‘authenticity’.
Great photo moment, hats off!
looks like dad just got the bill for the open bar
Dont Make me Turn these fingers int the SHOCKER i’ll do it I swear.
This pic is laugh-out-loud funny. That poor bride!
