Hmmm. I think I have to say my loudest 1980s moment was the dance recital with the costumes consisting of spandex sleeveless top & knee-length pants, bright pink and decorated with rainbow splotches up and down the sides and bright green sequin trim. The “Barbie rock star” look, I guess. Otherwise: I wore splatter-paint jeans, neon colors, green jelly shoes (bought a pair online in my current size) -and ridiculous holiday sweatshirts. But I was 8 and younger. Between ages 8-12, I was Early 90′s Awful in floral print pants (or dresses) and things in pastel colors. I reflect on the fact that my grade school/middle school glasses were…”ok”…but the lenses looked too wide. I am keeping my cute narrow frames. Cabbage Patch Kid? Forget it. Cabbage Patch Pony!!
I too had the notorious “upside-down” glasses, plus the jelly shoes and wild shirts back in the 80′s. My favorites were a pair of hot pink plastic pumps! Real-life “Barbie” shoes they were! I wore those at Halloween with my “Jem” costume!!!
I need to know who this is and who submitted the pic!!! It looks just like me in the 80′s, but I can’t place the house. I seriously had that shirt, among other accessories!!!
I had jelly shoes in the mid eighties, and crazy shirts as well as those dang glasses. Poor girl really thought she looked pretty nice there. Im sure she’s with the times now.
pantihose 6 shades darker than my skin…check
socks…uh…better go with white it goes with everything which is exactly what I am wearing
shoes…well, I am wearing a dress and black goes with everything to
But I do need to make something very clear. I would never ever wear socks in my shoes like that. I mean, come ON. I can’t comment on that sweatshirt and say whether or not I may have had the exact same one, maybe with pants to match too, just sayin, you know, IF I had it.
That tree was already being upstaged and made to look lacklustre by the busy wallpaper and the shiny gold upholstery. I think the girl’s earrings are nutcracker heads; whatever they are they’re nicely balanced by the hosiery\blue socks\open-toed shoes combo that complete her ensemble.
Jenny tried for years to be known as the trend setter at her school. Who would have thought that at last she hit gold by catching the leading edge of the cabbage patch doll craze.
The 80s was the era of many things including “Effed-Up Glasses” and for a while the enormous glasses that appeared to be upside down based on the placement of the ear rests was a popular look..I know this based on photos of my parents among others. I hope this look never again becomes popular.
I was born in 1985 so was *just* old enough to appreciate the 80s. Did anyone else have one of those sweaters with animals on playing in the snow, but it had pompoms stuck on to represent snowflakes? I also had a tracksuit, springy neon “self tying” laces and jelly shoes!

I can’t lie-I rocked a similar look in junior high (82-84). I pretty much burn those pics when I come across them.
is there anything that is MORE fashion forward than peep toes and blue ankle socks???
The poor cabbage patch kid has been banished to the heap under the side table!

is it just me or are her glasses upside down?
The families’ names have been changed to protect the innocent; they are anonymous for a reason.

The big glasses, the hair, the whole outfit…I’m having an 80′s flashback right now.

Silent Night…..Lonely Night……
it may be a silent night but man is her outfit screaming! lmao

Look at the decor….the poor girl never had a chance.
Hey now…this outfit was obviously planned out.

and voila!
Socks? Pumps? Socks? Pumps?
BOTH!
Well, I see where my glasses from high school went.
OMG! For a second I thought this was ME!

I think I’m in love…
That whole outfit had to be part of her Xmas gifts. The typical mother telling her to “try on your new clothes” picture — love it!
Superstar!

Does she know that her glasses are upside-down?!

over the top, the sweater, glasses, hair, socks, huge earrings, bangle bracelets and to top it off the cabbage patch doll freshly unwrapped
somewhere in the corner, Stephen King is thinking of his latest novel for the creepy girl in the funky sweater

I’m a 90′s kid, but I had the pom pom sweaters, jelly shoes and the springy laces haha
As we would tactfully say in the South: “Bless her heart!”
lol…i can hear it too
