The kid on the right is in rear entry’s too…
I just simply don’t get it. I’ve never been skiing so I’m pretty confused right now about what the awkward/funny thing about this photo is.
a. it’s just old school
b. it’s his Dad’s b-day, a fun & appropriate shot for that. =)
and C) THE POSE!!! (which is “old school” in skiing, but some of us NEVER engaged in these symmetrical cheerleader-like poses).

Look at the title. My uneducated guess is that the guys that run this site are wishing their dad (?), who would be the guy in the middle, a happy 70th bday, and they put up this old photo for kicks and grins.
I’d be pissed if someone ran across my expensive skis with their nice sharp edges! DOH!

It’s not a background – it’s real. You can see the horizon reflection in Dad’s glasses. Just sayin’ – while it’s laughable, there is nothing “awkward” about it IMO.
I like the fact that both of the kids are standing on Dad’s skis.

I remember this sort of pose; it was all the rage 16 years ago. Those white Salomon rear entry boots are super bad ass. I wish I had that kind of money back then.
