I don’t know why but I love this picture. I would do this with my family.

  2. Rachel says:

Possibly one of the best things I’ve ever seen.

  3. sascia says:

    Thats not awkward, thats awesome!

  4. xandria says:

Is that the step-child they are dangling out of the plane?!?

  5. She_forgot_her_parachute says:

I think this picture is adorable! 0:)

  6. Modine says:

From far away it looks like a cute picture. I can’t tell if the little one is smiling or not. At least it doesn’t look like she’s screaming and trying to claw her way back up.

  7. Melissa says:

I think this picture is pretty funny. Looks like the family is having fun.. not too awkward

  8. Vicki says:

It may be a little awkward, but it’s so CUTE!

  9. francis james says:

Is it just me or is there still some eliment of danger with how high this girl is from the ground? I think she’s really terrified. Either that or this is clearly a photoshoped picture.

    • Jennifer says:

She was probably standing on something and then the step was taken out. Still a cool picture. Not all photoshop is bad.

  10. arrarr says:

l like this one, too. Not awkward, just a fun picture!

  11. Tim S says:

Always a good idea to wear your seatbelt when the plane does a slow roll.

  12. Lori says:

Haha! That is AWESOME! Where is that photo op located so I can take my family there pronto?

  13. Julie K says:

Yep, I use this website for ideas for the next family photo… Because classic awkwardness is better than future awkwardness.

And if you saw my family… you’d know that the photo is going to be awkward..

    • El & Mo says:

Well if your family is anything like mine, just one look and the Adam’s Family theme song pops right into your head.

  14. Kritter Krit says:

I love how the mom and daughter in the plane look like it’s just another day at the Gap.

  15. Bonnie says:

Not awkward, but it sure is hilarious! I love it!

  16. Zita says:

I agree. This isn’t awkward at all! It’s cute and funny =)

  17. taino sam says:

we’re over your spot. tuck and roll!

  18. Beth says:

I thought this was hilarious, until I saw the little girl’s face!!! That is something my family would def do to me, Im the baby and the only girl with two brothers.

  19. cheez_wiz says:

All of these airline cutbacks and surcharges are getting ridiculous.

  20. Kimberly says:

This picture is all manner of awesome.

  21. Rico says:

I know this poster very well , it is from my hometown back in Brazil Pocos de caldas…its about 40 years old the poster, but people are always making funny pictures like this one…

  22. El & Mo says:

I NEED, NEED, NEED to know where I can go to get a photo like this done!

  23. yolanda says:

Funny! It’s funny because it’s deliberate awkwardness. The kid’s expression is perfect, she’s an excellent actress! I guarantee her bottom foot is only as far from the floor as the bottom of the picture and she was more likely helped up than dangled down. Very clever!

  24. kay says:

After their plane crashed in the rockies, the Donner family wasted no time deciding who got wings and who got legs.

  25. Minnie says:

This is dangerous. How could AFP post such a picture? They should be ashamed of themselves. Unsubscribe!

    • Boppie says:

You’re so right, Minnie! The least AFP can do is collect money to send to the aid of that poor, bucolic little town destroyed by the giant sneaker of that monstrous little girl…

    • terry says:

the only thing dangerous is you tellin people to unsubscribe. if you dont like it, dont look!!! y take it away from everyone else. its people like you that make the world a bad place. because minnie doesn’t like something, it has been decided to not be liked by everbody, therefore none shall have. thanks minnie

    • Kevin says:

Could someone tell Minnie that that’s not a real plane!

    • Steph says:

I seriously hope you’re being sarcastic.

    • Lily says:

      erm, this is awkward.
      Look again.
The only danger here is that there is a foot dangling from you mouth.

    • lemurqueen says:

Minnie..you are a twit…bet your kids had NO fun growing up…

    • Jenny says:

Strange – I don’t remember subscribing to AFP. Does anybody else remember? And seems to me that in order to see the pictures, I have to click my mouse on specific icons in a specific order. Wouldn’t that constitute “voluntary”? So Minnie, please return your computer to the “Real Stepford Wives” and leave us alone!

      • Kristin says:

I would like to point that I have subscribed to AFP through Google Reader. The pictures just show up in my reader. So technically I can unsubscribe and not see the pictures. Which is what I would think Minnie is referring to.

I also think Minnie needs a reality check. That picture is just good fun.

    • Jennifer says:

I find it amazing that the parent police are out for a picture as mild as this one.

    • Sammy says:

Poor Minnie. Nobody got her joke. She was clearly kidding (it’s so common to post things like that here, so she was poking fun at that).
No worries Minnie, a lot of us got it.

  26. carol says:

I like these people! I don’t know them, but I like them.

  27. Anne says:

Well, this will save the one child lots of time (and potentially money) in therapy down the road; when the psychiatrist peers over his glasses and says, “So, tell me about your relationship with your mother and your sibling,” she can hand him this photo and let it be worth a thousand words.

  28. chris says:

    I LOVE it!

  29. Julia says:

Clearly we can see who is the favorite!

  30. meve76 says:

    Love it!!That’s so funny
thanks AFP for making my day …just before I go to bed^^!

  31. eve says:

I can’t believe people are saying this is cute! the kid is obviously really terrified and is about at least 8 feet off the ground.

    • Gravity's Rambo says:

Honey, it’s cute BECAUSE the kid is being dangled out of the plane and IS really terrified. Now go back to your lolcats.

    • Kross says:

Eve, where on earth are you getting “8 feet off the ground” from? Its likely that the ground is right beneath the camera frame.

    • Boppie says:

Eve, I refer you to the abstract concepts of 1. artistic perspective, and 2. having perspective.

    • Jennifer says:

Please- they probably said, “ok honey now look really scared” Click.

    • iLOLd says:

From the size of the buildings, I would say they’re at about 1,000 feet.
      XD

  32. Anne says:

Well, we’ve finally learned why Marnie has so much hatred for her family.

  33. Alan says:

    Just plane good fun.

  34. It’s very clear who’s the “favorite” daughter in this picture. XD LOL!

  35. Bryan says:

ok ok so I don’t blame the parents, I mean I’ve 2 little kids and I’ve done portraits. By the end you start to think, “yeah yeah, whatever. Just don’t hurt my kids and get me out of here.” But I’m questioning the ‘designer’ of the prop? Who designs this for pictures? I don’t think they let you get drunk at airshows right? I think security worries about the bad press when a naked drunk guy runs into a spinning prop. Realistically though who else would think that setting makes a good photo opportunity besides a drunk airshow spectator. Ah yeah, we’re at the airshow, let’s get a family photo…oh how about that stupid fake cockpit?

  36. Miss Shegas says:

    Most awesome family photo. EVER.

Damn my parents and their Olen Mills, THIS could have been our Christmas card.

  37. Julia says:

I’m so glad this pic was published! I told my friend to send it to this blog just after she published on her orkut (“Brazilian” facebook). That’s no photoshop. it’s just awesome, and that’s the nicest fun family ever!
I wish I had fun family pictures like this!!

  38. Noneya says:

I love this picture. It is one of the most adorable family pictures I’ve ever seen.

  39. Ludmila says:

    Ok…ok… i Confesss.
I am the girl out of the Plane 15 year ago, and riding some of the coments i want to tell that i was not so high, the flor was just behind me hahaha. So we were in a trip in Brazil and we saw this poster, but just two people fit in, so we have the funny idea to take the photo like that, i made this funny face to get better reality. =) It was a nice trip!

    • Maureen says:

What a great childhood memory. Thanks for sharing it with us.

    • LFraser says:

What a great photo! I love it. Thanks for sharing ;-)

    • BigE says:

Well, from all the comments, you are a good actress! Some thought you were really scared, but I didn’t think the others in the photo would be that happy looking if you were actually scared. So, it’s a great photo, never seen one like that, and looks like a great vacation memory! Thanks for sharing, it’s a classic!!

      • MS says:

That’s the GREATEST! You guys look like you’re having a blast- forget the negative comments. They’re just jealous. :)

  40. Patricia says:

    Not awkward, but definitely classic!

    • John III says:

Agreed, that picture rocks! I have two baby girls, I’d be willing to do this in a few years with them.

  41. Trisha Lamb says:

I think this was a cute idea..And I love how the girl hanging out played along and made a funny scared face..

  42. carol says:

    That. Is. Awesome.

  43. David says:

This pic should be banned, erased and forgotten by the lot of us! Just think of it, posing a little girl like that without her parachute on…..gives me the creeps!

  44. megan says:

If you look to the right, the backdrop seems to curve out along the side, as if the front is slightly slanted forward, maybe she’s leaning or sitting on something. I agree, it doesnt look like they are holding her very tightly. Cute picture.

  45. seogi says:

not too dangerous in this one…the girl can almost touch the ground

  46. Rick says:

I told her not to read my diary!

  47. HippieDippie says:

Dad was also in the previous picture..

  48. my3kids says:

I would love to replicate this pic only have my mother-in-law hanging from the plane window and my husband and I waving goodbye and smiling! That would be a keeper! Blow it up, and put it in the Living room, framed!

  49. AwkWerrrd says:

THIS….. made me laugh SO hard! Ahhahhahahahhaha! Awesomeness!!

  50. akb154 says:

    I wonder who’s the favorite.
