Even the dog had to look away.

This totally gives “recreating a cherished family photo” vibes.
I am thinking it was a photo from about 8-10 years ago and they tried to re-create.
This is the Michelle Bobble family. They were instructed by Marnie to bring the squash. Since they could not find the regulation size casserole dish they were required to bring, they blew off Thanksgiving at Marnie’s and sent this photo in their place.
Marnie put them in charge of ice the following year…..
Unfortunately, the Pumpkin Of The Month Cub sent only 2 instead of the usual 5. Thinking quickly, Dad grabbed Stanley, Tina grabbed her own hand and Mom grabbed Tina. Thus the family’s streak of “Everyone is holding something” photos remained unbroken.
Haha! Good one!
Nice to see a family reciting The Gourd’s Prayer.
Wow, this picture just screams awkward. Great picture.
Maybe they’re trying to spell out WOW, if you squint.
This is my late comment duplicating all the previous comments but blatantly unaware. Ohhh look the girl has no pumpkin..
This one is just weird…like when you see supposed photos of ghosts or UFOs and all you can think is “what is this really?”
Dibs on any guy who owns BOTH a red turtleneck and uber-faded jeans.
Wow! How embarrassing! Nobody has mentioned the girls socks and houseshoes!
Now that is funny! I had to go back and look…good eye!
what a dopey looking family…that’s all I can come up with.
I think we might be missing something here. Let’s not get hung up on the nuances in the picture. Pumpkin or gourd? Shirts not matching. The true beauty of this shot is the genius of the photographer who convinced these folks that this was a good idea. Whoever you are let me just say “Well done, well done indeed!” Please tell me this is the 20×24 centerpiece of your photography studio. If so my next vacation destination is set.
The picture is crooked.
Oh, for the love of gourd!
Gourd save us from L.L. Bean.
I love you Meeks. You too Halter 😉 Ya’ll know who it is
A gourd-geous picture?
OMG I know this family…..
Cindy knew that if she prayed hard enough, one day she would have her very own baby pumpkin to love and raise and call her own, just like George and Tim. She already planned to name it “Fluffy.”
The son with the facial hair is fine!!!
The other one is cute too, in an awkward way. I used to date a guy who looked a lot like him.
In gourd we trust.
Ha ha, I love the captions on this blog.
On first glance I was missing the awkwardness. The more I look at it, the more uncomfortable I become. Is the daughter praying for a gourd/pumpkin?
Preparing for the Great Pumpkin
…and it was recent! I just always assume they’re from the 70s and somehow we’re more normal now…..
I didn’t realize it was recent at first, I assumed it was old, due to poofy hair, overalls and faded jeans. Whoops.
Margaret, The young man on the left is holding a miniature pumpkin. The older man, the father perhaps, is holding the younger man’s knees…the young girl is holding her own hands and the woman on the right is holding the young girl up.
Rover is happy though that he only had to wear a bandanna and not an awkward turtleneck. (And that he has no thumbs so he didn’t have to hold up a pumpkin, either).
All five look really uncomfortable. My guess is the guy on the left is the one set the auto-timer and ran to get in the picture.
why is the girl praying
A baby pumpkin?
gourds of love. But they only had 2…how sad for the daughter.
Only the boys get little punkins – the girl is left cheering them on.
They’re out of their gourds!
Why are the dad’s hands on his son’s knees? Why is the daughter pumpkin-less but still acting like she’s holding one? So many questions…
The daughter is praying for a pumpkin of her own next year…
Hee hee. Good one.
why are the boys holding little pumpkins and why doesn’t the girl get one?
The family that “kneed’s” to be together
Although the two boys got a gourd and the girl didnt
Spot the favourites!
eveything in this photo is just awkward! LOL
We “kneed” you at our Thanksgiving feast! Here’s a little pumpkin for ya!
HA HA HA
I love how the daughter had nothing to hold but her delicate hands together as if she was holding miniature produce?
They’re one gourd short of a picnic.
I love you.
haha, that should be the caption.
I have a 2-year-old – I’m well-versed in the art of pinning down a child. But, I’ve never seen adult children pinned down by their parents – while holding gourds (or, in the daughter’s case, an imaginary pumpkin).
They couldn’t find a third gourd/squash-y thing for the girl to hold, that she had to just clasp her hands? Why are the parents all weirdly clingy onto only two of the (presumably) children? Do they not love the guy on the left? Also, that guy on the left has a shirt that appears to match the women’s, but the other two guys have more of a burgundy shade, collar-less style….
This level of awkwardness made my day. 🙂
After you mentioned it, I took a look and thought that possibly that was by choice. 😉
im not sure the girl on the right even realises that she doesnt have a little gourd in her hands…
lol you’re funny and so right! She seems so utterly happy either way!
What a completely bizarre picture!!
The caption had me nearly spewing my drink on my monitor.
AGREED!!!!!!!!! BEST CAPTION E V E R ! ! ! lol
Oh, how deliciously awkward!
Please, can I have MY little pumpkin now? Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaase?!?
What in god’s name are they holding?
I think you know what, the questions is why?????
Looks like a couple of small gourds.
Looks like squashes to me.
It looks like they’re holding little miniature pumpkins.
Thank you! Okay, I get it now…it seems so obvious, but this morning before coffee they looked like tiny brains (which would be good in its own way!).
So…could whomever sent this in please offer some kind of explanation?
I’m starting to wonder if the website has gained enough popularity that people are actually staging awkward family photos.
It’s fall. My guess is pumpkins.
Looks like small pumpkins
Little pumpkins, but why is dad holding son’s knees? Really awkward.
okay, the picture was bad enough to make me crack up. then i get to the caption and lose it again. BUT THEN…your comment is the first one and i almost wake my whole family by laughing so loud!
