This totally gives “recreating a cherished family photo” vibes.

I am thinking it was a photo from about 8-10 years ago and they tried to re-create.

  3. Kellster says:

This is the Michelle Bobble family. They were instructed by Marnie to bring the squash. Since they could not find the regulation size casserole dish they were required to bring, they blew off Thanksgiving at Marnie’s and sent this photo in their place.

Marnie put them in charge of ice the following year…..

  4. Jeff says:

Unfortunately, the Pumpkin Of The Month Cub sent only 2 instead of the usual 5. Thinking quickly, Dad grabbed Stanley, Tina grabbed her own hand and Mom grabbed Tina. Thus the family’s streak of “Everyone is holding something” photos remained unbroken.

  5. RHB says:

Nice to see a family reciting The Gourd’s Prayer.

  6. Piki says:

Wow, this picture just screams awkward. Great picture.

  7. Karen says:

Maybe they’re trying to spell out WOW, if you squint.

  8. Disappointed Joe says:

This is my late comment duplicating all the previous comments but blatantly unaware. Ohhh look the girl has no pumpkin..

  9. deanna says:

This one is just weird…like when you see supposed photos of ghosts or UFOs and all you can think is “what is this really?”

  10. Canucklehead says:

Dibs on any guy who owns BOTH a red turtleneck and uber-faded jeans.

  11. Megan C. says:

Wow! How embarrassing! Nobody has mentioned the girls socks and houseshoes!

  12. lollyblue says:

what a dopey looking family…that’s all I can come up with.

  13. Don says:

I think we might be missing something here. Let’s not get hung up on the nuances in the picture. Pumpkin or gourd? Shirts not matching. The true beauty of this shot is the genius of the photographer who convinced these folks that this was a good idea. Whoever you are let me just say “Well done, well done indeed!” Please tell me this is the 20×24 centerpiece of your photography studio. If so my next vacation destination is set.

  14. carol says:

    The picture is crooked.

  15. livremaniac says:

Oh, for the love of gourd!

  16. Captain Fratstar says:

I love you Meeks. You too Halter ;) Ya’ll know who it is

  17. Lily says:

    A gourd-geous picture?

  18. Grace says:

    OMG I know this family…..

  19. Kitten K. Boodle says:

Cindy knew that if she prayed hard enough, one day she would have her very own baby pumpkin to love and raise and call her own, just like George and Tim. She already planned to name it “Fluffy.”

  20. Marissa says:

The son with the facial hair is fine!!!

  21. Alan says:

    In gourd we trust.

  22. Melenie says:

Ha ha, I love the captions on this blog.

  23. Jim says:

On first glance I was missing the awkwardness. The more I look at it, the more uncomfortable I become. Is the daughter praying for a gourd/pumpkin?

  24. Susan Salas says:

…and it was recent! I just always assume they’re from the 70s and somehow we’re more normal now…..

  25. Erin says:

Margaret, The young man on the left is holding a miniature pumpkin. The older man, the father perhaps, is holding the younger man’s knees…the young girl is holding her own hands and the woman on the right is holding the young girl up.

  26. PB in CT says:

Rover is happy though that he only had to wear a bandanna and not an awkward turtleneck. (And that he has no thumbs so he didn’t have to hold up a pumpkin, either).

  27. Mike says:

All five look really uncomfortable. My guess is the guy on the left is the one set the auto-timer and ran to get in the picture.

  28. j says:

    why is the girl praying

  29. mykool says:

    A baby pumpkin?

  30. Deeters says:

gourds of love. But they only had 2…how sad for the daughter.

  31. Be3t says:

Only the boys get little punkins – the girl is left cheering them on.

  32. Staci says:

    They’re out of their gourds!

  33. LOL says:

    Oh my……

  34. Robert says:

Why are the dad’s hands on his son’s knees? Why is the daughter pumpkin-less but still acting like she’s holding one? So many questions…

  35. Annie says:

The daughter is praying for a pumpkin of her own next year…

  36. Kim says:

why are the boys holding little pumpkins and why doesn’t the girl get one?

  37. dfern56 says:

The family that “kneed’s” to be together

  38. regicide says:

Although the two boys got a gourd and the girl didnt

  39. regicide says:

    Spot the favourites!

  40. Erika says:

eveything in this photo is just awkward! LOL

  41. Micacamcam says:

We “kneed” you at our Thanksgiving feast! Here’s a little pumpkin for ya!

  42. jason says:

    Good gourd…

  43. Steben says:

I love how the daughter had nothing to hold but her delicate hands together as if she was holding miniature produce?

  44. Linda says:

I have a 2-year-old – I’m well-versed in the art of pinning down a child. But, I’ve never seen adult children pinned down by their parents – while holding gourds (or, in the daughter’s case, an imaginary pumpkin).

  45. CB says:

They couldn’t find a third gourd/squash-y thing for the girl to hold, that she had to just clasp her hands? Why are the parents all weirdly clingy onto only two of the (presumably) children? Do they not love the guy on the left? Also, that guy on the left has a shirt that appears to match the women’s, but the other two guys have more of a burgundy shade, collar-less style….

This level of awkwardness made my day. :-)

  46. emm says:

im not sure the girl on the right even realises that she doesnt have a little gourd in her hands…

  47. Jill says:

    What a completely bizarre picture!!

  48. Sidra says:

The caption had me nearly spewing my drink on my monitor.

  49. Jon says:

    Oh, how deliciously awkward!

  50. margaret says:

What in god’s name are they holding?
