I took one of these pics on my hundredth day. Hanbok (traditional wear), fur draped chair, and smoky background was included! I had furry bears ears with it too though…..
Now that we have taken the Nesting Dolls picture, how do you open it up to get the other ones out??
The other awkward part is this young child appears to be dressed as a geisha.
It’s possible the child’s parents were living in Korea and decided to embrace the local culture. I don’t think this picture is weird. The skills of the photographer, though, leave a little something to be desired.
True. I am Korean and have been stationed in Korea…many of my friends in the military, teachers, missionaries that are not Korean buy the Hanbok for their child because they like the tradition. I agree that the photographer shouldn’t get paid.
The arm is mine!
That’s the cutest little white korean girl I’ve ever seen!
This child is a girl.
I want to see the next pictures in the series. You know, the ones where the open the kid up and there is another, smaller kid inside. Then they open that kid up, and so on…
You’re right! A nesting doll!
Best comment EVER!
I agree – that was hilarious!!
BWA HA HA HA AHA
awwwww, that’s traditional korean dress XD
Child looks afraid to more for fear he/she will have to wear an even more colorful costume
EXACTLY what I was gonna say….literally.
Nice that you can see mom’s arm in the shot..
My Gramma Went to China & All I Got Was This Lousy Costume
Chelle, I forgive you for not knowing the difference between Chinese and Korean. And despite any snarky replies you get, I’m absolutely certain that 99% of the rest of us don’t know the difference either. He definitely looks like one of those Russian nesting dolls…
LOL !!! Dressed in Korean clothes, looking like a Russian doll!!
Thanks Amy!!! I was really really really hoping to be corrected by the Geography Police who most certaily MONITOR this fun site every morning!
I made *myself* laugh, and I’m sorry I only inspired YOU to leave your UH…. smarty remark.
BEST to you
I find it hilarious that you get so uptight about being wrong. That’s funnier than the photo.
Thanks for the humor.
It didn’t seem Chelle got uptight to me. It seemed more like she was amused that all Amy could do was correct her instead of laugh at her funny comment. Just amazing that you and Amy come here to suck the fun out the entry.
English Teacher. ’nuff said…. thx for another funny morning!!! xoxoxoxo
At least yours is only the geography police. I can’t even make a comment on a pic and have it make it through moderation even though I see posts every day that are worse. (not that you will see this either).
He is the Golden Child!
I think this is so cute
Isn’t it hard enough to be an MK (missionary kid) without this kind of misery.
He looks like a topper on a Tibetan cake… And thinking… “No, I’m not the ‘Golden One’ Brother Numspa”
The kid may or may not be the next Dali Lama, but what impresses me is the person who seems to be holding up the whole caucasian emperor display one handed!
love the arm in the shot! LOL
Is it a puppet?
What’s with the arm in the picture what are they holding up???
It’s a rare day that finds me speechless. Today is a rare day.
Wow I love the totally unprofessional creepy arm in the background! NICE! The poor kid looks totally freaked out!
Not that awkward. I suppose there’s always something awkward about seeing a white person or kid wearing native garb from another country, but c’mon, that’s too easy. (Like GWB trying to do an African dance.)
You can do better, AFP. :-/
You people who claim pictures that are clearly awkward aren’t are just as annoying as those who claim every last picture.submitted is photoshopped.
Now that you mention it, given the the way there appears to be a shadow of a person behind that arm, and yet there is no person belonging to said shadow, clearly this is photoshopped!
I’m the child in the picture. This picture was not photoshopped. It was taken 20 years ago. I found it while going through some old family pictures. I don’t think my parents even know what photoshop is…
I think it’s probably safe to assume that the shadow belongs to the same person that the arm does.
I think it’s safe to assume I was being sarcastic, lol
I wonder if you realize that in your effort to kill our joy you contradicted yourself. Awkward is in the eye of the beholder. Have a nice day.
Any “professional” photo with an unnecessary arm in the background is awkward.
And I I know AFP will not post any of these comments too bad so sad.
Seems like they did…
Well now, I am surprised
And where is that hand going??
This picture makes me WANT to be color blind.
