Tin Soldiers - *AFP Hall Of Fame*

“So, I got bored with the typical holiday cards and decided to do something a little different. At first, my ideas were pretty innocent (we wore Santa hats, reindeer antlers, etc), but as the years passed and my ideas became more and more unusual, I realized people loved it.  I have heard from many “fans” that their extended families, friends, and neighbors start checking in early in December to see if the Johnson card has arrived and what I’ve come up with for that year.”

  2. Andre says:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and arm teddy bears, shall not be infringed.

  3. rebecca says:

…THEY ARE NOT LAUGHING WITH YOU! They are laughing AT you! But you are giving them joy, so it’s all good!

  4. Dawn says:

Are you sure they’re laughing WITH you?

  5. Christina says:

Just keep telling yourself that Sue!

Sue, my friends and I want to know how to get on your Christmas card list! Do you post them every year? Merry Christmas to you and your fun-loving family!

NOW I know what to do with all of those Quaker Oats boxes we’ve got lying around…

  10. Newton says:

When did the Rockettes have a garage sale?

I think the pic is kind of cute.

  13. LCN says:

I think it’s great how even dad goes along with the fun. Not too many would do that. Great family!

    I think this is adorable.

  15. Adam says:

Don’t send this holiday card to Cousin Marine… The cuffs are not regulation size.

  16. bj says:

    Why are they smiling?!?!

  17. Alan says:

Have they got measles? Or it that just a rash statement?

  18. The standards at Buckingham Palace have gone way down.

  19. Deacon Blues says:

Apparently it’s easier to get the gals in the family to dress up as nutcrackers than it is to get the men to dress as sugar plum fairies.

  20. Christa says:

That is wrong on so many levels…….

    • slozudo says:

Think so? Then name six levels of “wrongness” — I get so tired of people making this trite remark, so tell us why it is so wrong.

      • Don says:

Well, for one thing the hats are too tall. You could never peek around a corner without being seen. And the yellow stripes practically scream “Here I am!” …whoops. Sorry. I just read the caption. I had heard the Army was contemplating going to a new uniform. Disregard.

  21. Douglas says:

The phrase “scarred for life” gets thrown around so much these days…

  22. Mary says:

This sure beats a lame Christmas letter!

  23. Sarah says:

This is super cute! And I love that every member of the family is at least pretending to love it too.

    • Maggie says:

That’s what I thought, too. Usually, you can tell whose idea it was because that person is the only one who looks happy.

    • Pam says:

I agree! I don’t really think this is awkward – just creative fun. Good, wholesome humor. If it’s something the whole family enjoys doing, it’s a great memory-building tradition. I’d love to see what they come up with in the future when the next generation joins the photo.

  24. js says:

Kinda funny that the Johnsons aspire to be nutcrackers!

  25. Mi says:

I wish I were a friend of the Johnson’s, so I could get their awesomely awkward cards every year too.

  26. Catherine says:

I LOVE this. And go Johnson Fam for playing along! :)
