“This is a photo of me at my sassiest – taken at Disneyworld, I believe. Can’t believe my mom actually paid for this to happen.”

I bet this was one of those pay per picture shops at an amusement park that will “put YOUR picture on the cover of a magazine” but it’s only pre-photo shopped. I had one done in the 80’s at Magic Mountain (big frizzy hair, big purple glasses and braces too) but my cover was Playboy. Mom was mortified when I got home from the school trip to see me on the “cover” of Playboy at age 13 or 14
So this one time at band camp….
It doesn’t matter where in America you were, if you were in junior high in the ’80s, you went to school with this girl.
Yep. At my school her name was Michelle.
At my school, it was me. Thank God for contacts and hair smoothing products or it would still be me!
Good comment and you are so right!
I have one of these, too! I had short feathered hair, a fuzzy sweater that my mom just HAD to get me, and my friend and I (her hair was HUGE) in all of our brace faced glory, smiling like a couple of idiots on the cover of Seventeen magazine…My parents still have the pic in the family room…
You should post that.
I’m not sure if anyone here had ever actually read Sassy when it was out in the 90s — it was sort of like the Anti-Seventeen.
My sister (younger sister #1) did.
I can’t seem to resist any periodical (love the format), so it’s likely I thumbed through a few pages. The mag did have more of an attitude.
I did. Best magazine ever (until the idiots who published YM and Guns & Ammo took it over, that is!) It made me who I am today, not some vapid, boy-obsessed twit who read Seventeen.
I remember reading it and liking it. But it was the mid-late 80s.
Oh God love her! The awkward phase! Who among us doesn’t have a picture like this in a drawer somewhere? I hope grown up Ms Sassy is having a good life.
haha – thanks mary. life is much better now than then 🙂
None of my friends remember that skit. It was, by far, my favorite. I wish I could find a clip of it. A little sasssss with that?????
Mr. Hemphill (PART 2 OF 2) Amazingly, narrow-minded, right-wing nuts who shout from rooftops in favor of freedoms, liberty, individual choices and objections to government “mandates” regarding health insurance have no problem with government “mandates” to control every fertile uterus in the country. Men (mostly older, white and conservative) are generally clueless as to the absurdity of their insistence on this control.
Before They Were Famous #99: Jennifer Grey.
That was the first thing I thought too! 🙂
Me too! XD
Oh snap! I had one of these made when I was in middle school….except in mine, I’m holding a phone to my ear and smiling uncomfortably…
I don’t believe you. Self-submit and prove it. 😉
Dude, that is seriously funny!!!
I will seriously cry if this does not win! I love this photo so so much
Nothing says Sassy like a pair of Sally Jessy Raphael glasses!
Unless it’s a crooked red bow tie!
Wow, I had the same frizzy hair, and I had big pink glasses and braces in the mid 80s. I also had bangs, though, which put all that much more emphasis on my braces and giant glasses.
I can’t believe this was the cover of the magazine.
I want to read the article about her, the Sassiest Girl in America. I mean, what makes her so ssssassy?
It’s not a real magazine cover- they had a booth at amusement parks or something where they’d put your photo on a fake cover (of a real magazine).
I will never get tired of this picture.
Looks like she got Rick-rolled.
i almost peed…
Best Sassy cover model ever!
OMG….This could’ve been me. My Freshman picture is almost like this ( without the awesome mag cover!!)
Adorable!! Loves it.
This is the definition of sassy, look at the fro!
There should have been a sitcom created around this pic. I know it and still love it.
BEST ENRY BY FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Curious to see the outfit for the 2nd date….wow
My personal favorite is the bowtie.
I didn’t know they even MADE glasses that big!
I love it! used to get this magazine constantly!
Wow. The smile is so genuine, it show-cases the braces. I love it.
A red bow tie is most definitely what you need to wear on a first date:)
The bowtie definately pulls it all together!
I miss Phil Hartman 🙁
“I feel as if I’m in the middle of a sassy sandwich.”
I just stepped in a big PILE of SASSY!
Did somebody say SASSY?
ahh a total throw back pic love it!!!
This photo makes me very jealous…my mother didn’t let me out of the house dressed in a tux until the prom.
I think the bow tie is PERFECTION! lm*ao!!!!!
I bet all the girls were insanely jealous! Did you borrow this from someone in show choir?
Best “before” picture ever!
The red tuxedo is just amazing…this photo is hysterical.
OMG – I loved Sassy magazine as a teen! And I was just as awkward as that girl on the “cover”.
Me, too! RIP, Sassy. 🙁
She exudes SASSY!
This is amazing. Absolutely amazing.
I had those glasses and braces that same year. I wish I had the bow tie.
The glasses are my favorite – almost can’t see her face behind them!
