I don’t know which is better, the fact that this photo is SO incredibly awkward, or the fact that this family paid money for this picture after taking it.
I think the whitened part is the flash from the camera that took the picture of the picture. It does have a slightly twisted Norman Rockwell feel, though. There’s a certain perfection to it.
WOW!! what a wonderfully fun & awkward photo… I loved it! It made me laugh in recognition of all the family photos (ala’ Olan Mills) we suffered through as kids. Correction….maybe it was my mom that suffered… we just were kids!
It looks like Dad is patting Mom on the shoulder reassuring her that things will work out. It also looks like they all know Mom is about to lose it………as I probably would.

It would seem that whatever it is that got whited out on mom’s lap, they are all terribly, terribly allergic to it.
I thought they probably erased something that was in “mom’s” lap. This is a mess in several areas.

Has noone noticed that the father’s arm is wet?
My english teacher made us write a short story, using this photo as a prompt. It was AWESOME.
I love this photo! It perfectly sums up what an Awkward Family Photo is!
Uh oh, trouble in suburbia.

It’s like a baby was whitened out of mom’s lap? Gives this pic a freaky tone
Uhm, where are the lower part of mom’s arms and her hands? She looks like she has a ghost sitting in her lap!
Where are Mom’s arms?
This is like something Norman Rockwell would paint.
It’s like Mom has a white ball of fire in her hands, on her lap. I am transfixed.

WOW.
Best AFP ever!
