A Little Push

“My son Avery thought he would be helpful by “pushing” his sister Adaira in the swing.”

Bump to Bump

“Some sisters share everything…including pregnancies! Even as grown adults, my mom bought these maternity dresses for my sister (on the right) and me (on the left) and forced us to pose for this awkward maternity/sisters picture in 2004. In fact, my mom still has this picture proudly displayed in her house! Nothing like sisters awkwardly showing off their matching baby bumps! My sister was 2 weeks away from having her baby in this picture-HA! Even though I’m done having babies, I simply cannot get rid of this horrible maternity dress. It reminds me of this embarrassing day when my sister and I had to take this hilarious picture!”

Red, White, and Blues

“When I was in 9th grade and my brother was in 11th grade a photographer came to take formal marching band portraits. Lucky for us, he agreed to do sibling portraits as well. I don’t know what I love the most – the tuxedos, the white gloves, my brother’s shag, my overgrown bangs, or the American flag background.”

Phantom Hug

“Will has definite boundaries and a little sister who never respects them….”

Slap-Happy

“This is an Easter photo of my brother and I. I had just slapped him (while my dad wasn’t looking), and then resumed my angelic pose for the picture.”

Don’t Touch

“Easter, 1988. Thankfully, I no longer find my little sister so horrifying or clingy. I think it’s the matching lace collars that really makes this for me. And my bowl cut.”

I Scream, You Scream

“I don’t know if this is funny or just scary.”

Brotherhead

“This is of my older sister, perfect in all pictures, and older brother’s gigantically chubby head. The photographer thought this was the best picture of the whole shoot. My mom thought it was hilarious and horrifying, so of course she bought it to add to the awkward family photos we had for years to come.”

Blown Away

“What should have been a wondrous/joyful moment for my sister on her fourth birthday, turned out be older sibling dominance at it’s best. I couldn’t just let her blow out the candles and get a wish could I? I’m the oldest, and I had to let her know, “even when it’s about her, it’s all about me.”

The Toy

“I remember getting this huge mechanical talking Mickey. All that remains of it is this photo that for some reason my family made me proudly pose in because they though it was hilarious that I shoved my brother inside. He doesn’t look too happy if you ask me!”
