  1. Gah! I’ve always wanted a monkey! Think they’ll make great companions! haha

  2. samia says:

    Monkey girl is quite!

  3. Puller says:

I’m with Amy, I think this is a repeat of owner and pet.

  4. BVHD61 says:

You think the baby is ugly, you should see the father.

  5. Cletus says:

That is not the monkeys color palette.

  6. Amy says:

Is that the same girl and monkey from that other picture with a man too?

  7. Naomi Shedd says:

Hey so I just got a message from one of my friends on FB that you were trying to reach me. So yeah here I am. This is me with my pet monkey Sheba. I got Sheba when I was 10 years old. My Dad bought her for me from “Safari Pet Shop” in Florida, after my beloved cat got hit by a car. Sheba lived 13 years. She died when I was 23 of what is equivalent of multiple sclerosis in humans. She is a Silver Tip Wooley monkey and they do not get fleas. They have a built in flea repellent that. When you see them grooming each other on TV they are picking of flakes of dry skin, not fleas. She was potty trained as well. She hated it when anything sticky got on her hands, She ate with a spoon and drank out of cut. They are the only kind of monkey’s to own. They are highly intelligent animals. If I could get another one I would but this particular type of monkey is extinct, due to the fact that they come from South America and the tribes consider Wooley Monkeys a delicacy when they are babies and they don’t breed until about 2 years old. Its very sad that this amazing creature has become extinct.

    • Steph says:

I bet it didn’t help that they were being kept as pets instead of in the wild where they belonged.

      • Robert says:

Trust me this had nothing to do with the species going extinct. Moreso local people eating the species. This one was very well taken care of and was more a child than a pet. I love people spouting off on the internet. One monkey being kept as a pet has nothing to do with a species extenction. I would say there’s a much higher likelyhood of being related to poachers.

  8. hall says:

Her name is Naomi Shedd. Lives in Ga.
    Does not own a monkey.

  9. JerseyPam says:

TO AFP ADMIN: Meant to put this as a reply, please delete? Whatever would I do without you, would have been lynched long ago.

  10. Naomi's Dad says:

To Awkward Family Pet Photos staff,

As per the Inter-Species Exchange Program agreement, Noami is currently off living in the trees with Bobo’s family for awhile. I think they’re in Africa. With their busy schedule of picking fleas out of each other’s hair and flinging poo at hyenas, I doubt Noami will have time to check her email. But we’ll be sure to tell her to contact you when she gets back next year.

  11. CarrieM says:

Your eye goes, “Huh, OK, Christmas, girl in shorts, pink dress on — HOLY CRAP WHAT IS THAT?”

  12. Maggie says:

You get the feeling she wasn’t expecting to be photographed from the waist down?

  13. rosemary says:

whats with the creepy monkey hand…..freaky

  14. jules says:

what on earth is the stuffed animal on the floor to the left? Squirrel or giant chipmunk? There is way to much going on in this photo to even comment on….. I do love the fake brick though…

  15. bobbie says:

    Dear Santa,
    I said Money, not monkey!

  16. Melvis says:

    That is one ugly baby!

  17. Brian says:

    What you talkin about Santa?

  18. Harry says:

    Will the insanity never stop?

    Monkeys are NOT pets.

Get this through your thick skulls.

    • Brian says:

Monkeys have thick skulls. But the brains! Yum-mie!

      • Dee says:

Harry, they do make excellent companions for people with disabilities. Much brighter and more capable of intricate tasks than dogs or mini-horse, and longer-lived. Monkeys chosen as care companions are very well treated. They have to be, as they will refuse to assist if they feel threatened.
        Brian, EW! Heh.

  19. JerseyPam says:

That’s the cutest monkey I’ve ever seen. I really hope it’s a female monkey.

    • Stacey says:

Cuz the monkey’s gender is the awkward part!!

      • JerseyPam says:

I was trying to determine the extent of the awkwardness. If it’s a female…still awkward. But if it’s a male monkey in a pink dress, that shoots it up into the awkward stratosphere.

  20. Heatha' says:

Why is the monkey wearing pink?

  21. kat says:

why isn’t the monkey wearing an elf costume?

  22. Aimes says:

I wonder if Naomi is the girl or the monkey.

  23. TV says:

That is one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen!! LOL!

  24. john0990 says:

    No. Just, no.

  25. veluxx says:

    where are her pants?
