Uncle Pauly

“My mother (top middle) grew up in Southside Chicago to parents who immigrated from Poland. There are tons of these family photos of my mother and her siblings posing with my grandpa (the one in the ushanka). My uncle Pauly, who was about 13 in this photo is always posing with either a beer or a cigarette. I don’t know, but looking at these photos makes me wonder if everybody was drunk through the 1970’s. I, however, have photos of my grandpa and I posing with kielbasa and ushankas, so I suppose the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
