All Their Ducks In A Row

“This was a family portrait and Mom had made us all duck sweatshirts. I had an asymmetrical hairdo and I don’t know what was worse – Mom’s braces or her makeup!”

Ghost Boy

“Grandma wanted family photos of all her kids, so she dragged us to JC Penney’s. (No one wanted to do it.) The photographer was so disengaged that she didn’t notice my nephew sneaked into our picture, and we didn’t notice until we got all the prints back. We call this ‘ghost boy.'”

Mom’s Prom Date

“Unbeknownst to Mother we hired a stripper for my sister’s bachelorette party. At first Mother was shocked and horrified, but after a night of completely inappropriate behavior (girls behaving badly), Mother loosened up a bit and joined in the fun. So much so that she decided to take a picture with the stripper! And being the good catholic girl that she is, she felt this was a perfectly acceptable pose…It is now affectionately known as her prom picture. Go Mom!”

Bowling For Shakespeare

“In our senior English class we had to make Shakespearean Globe Theaters out of a non-wood material. My group used duct tape. To complete the look for the senior picture, I wore my duct tape dress, shoes, tiara and bracelet. I don’t know how the bowling pin on a pedestal worked into the theme.”

Sleep Deprived

“Mom sewed all the clothes we were wearing, even the neckties and the underwear. I’m not sure why three of us look like we hadn’t slept in a week.”

Damien’s Furby

“This is a photo of me with my new Furby. My parents didn’t want to buy it, but the photographer didn’t want to keep it. Scary!”

The Gift Of Innocence

“My 8 year old went dumpster diving in our neighborhood. He was so proud. He brought this home for me, because it has a heart on it.”

In-Ground Pool

“A way for my brother and I to pass the time in East Texas was to dig a hole in the back yard and fill it with water. No, we couldn’t afford a pool!”
