Vision Quest

“I was recently looking through my parents old wedding album, and I found this gem. My mom said it was the thing to do back then, but I’m not so sure. I am surprised that this type of editing worked so well back then. My mom showed my dad, and his response was ‘That was one of my favorites. You looked beautiful. And you really are always on my mind.'”

The Bell Tolls

“I’m originally from Nazareth Illit, Israel, a very diverse city, where Jews, Christians and Muslims live together. Since I was born on Christmas Eve my parents used to invite our Christian neighbor who used to dress up as Santa and he would always come bearing gifts. In the photo my mom is holding the present he gave me and me, terrified in her arms. Perhaps it was the fake forehead that broke me.”

Ready Player Two

“When Dad’s friend brings over his new Super Nintendo, priorities are made pretty clear. At least I’m not in the beer box.”

Look Who’s Talking

“When I was in first grade I did a ventriloquist act in the talent show at school. When it came time for school photos, we were given the option of including a prop in our portraits, so I thought it would be a great idea to be photographed with my dummy. I was secretly terrified of that thing and couldn’t sleep if it was in my room.”

“It was the Sears photographer’s idea to have them on top of me. It was my idea to put them in matching shirts.”

The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boys

“This is a photo from the final tap dance duet my brother and I did together. It is my deepest hope that he will still speak to me after this is posted. Jazz hands have never looked so profound.”
