To Each Their Own
“It was 2002. We had taken in a young man who needed a place to live. Our own children were working hard to maintain their own individuality in a culture which prided itself on ‘sameness.’ So, we took the opportunity to have a family photo taken.”

No Way, No How
“I wanted to go to my friend’s house instead of taking pictures. My mom said no and I wanted everyone to know I was mad.”

Prom Casual
“My date for prom (now my husband of 28 years), picked me up at my house and took a few pictures. Then we stopped by his parents house and his dad was mowing the grass. His mom made him get off the mower and get a quick picture with us.”

Hair Club
“This family photo was taken at Sears in 1987 as present to our mom. I guess you can tell we all loved heavy metal music. The guy on the back right is the oldest of the four brothers and yes that’s his real hair. The one in the front left is me, the youngest of the four, and I was pissed that I had to take this picture. We asked if they had an alley way for the back drop, but had to settle for a plain one.”

A Common Thread
“Not sure what we were thinking but it seemed to be a good idea at the time. It’s become a running family laugh…and a threat from my wife every time she goes to the fabric store.”

White Rabbit
“This photo was taken at K-Mart when I was child. Only when I was an adult was I able to appreciate the full creepiness of it.”

Dadcation
“This is a picture of my Dad during our 1997 trip to Disney World in Florida. Fanny packs and mid-riff shirts, and nut-hugging shorts were Dad’s preferred ensemble. He had started a mullet a couple of years before this and refused to cut it until he retired. He’s still working, but my mom told him she wouldn’t go with him on their 32nd Anniversary cruise celebration unless he cut it. He finally gave in.”
