Lipstuck

“Assuming this was Halloween 1984ish, or at least I hope so based on my brothers choice of headgear, my mom swears she was putting lipstick on me. I question this theory, but it makes for a great photo.”

Doggy Style

“Our family went to the local portrait studio with our dog, Prudence. My dad, who loved her very much, considered her a member of the family and therefore wanted her to be a part of the photo. When we posed for the picture, Prudence would not stay still so my Dad straddled the bench to keep her still. This photo hung in our house for years, and, the truth is, we were oblivious about its awkwardness until a close friend pointed it out.”

Daisy Duke

“When I was 8 years old, I got to meet ‘Daisy Duke.’ I didn’t realize my zipper was down until we got the film developed. When I brought the photo to school to show my friends, I kept it in an envelope and only pulled it out part way so they couldn’t see my open fly.”

Have Your Cake

“It’s a tradition in my family to dunk the birthday boy or girl’s head in their own birthday cake. This was taken on my sister’s first birthday. The one doing the dunking is our cousin. Lucky for me, this tradition ended once I was born.”

Bandstache

“This my son’s school pic after busting his lip. Poor kid rolled off the bed, hit his night stand, and had to get stitches. Then picture day!”

America the BooHoo-tiful

“We took our kids to Mt. Rushmore when they were little. Obviously, I wanted a photo of the fam in front of the iconic mountain. This is what I got. My daughter was convinced that she was going to fall off of the ledge and plummet to her death… in actuality, it was a three foot “drop” to the back row of benches in a huge amphitheater. She refused to turn around and look for herself. Instead, she just sat there and bawled. Four years later, that’s still her go-to reaction to pretty much everything.”

Poochie

“My fellow friends born in the 80s may remember Poochie.  I was obsessed.  My mother the seamstress was a saint. Despite the look on my face, I remember being thrilled with the result.”
