i don’t see the big deal, kid can’t dress? so what. He’ll get his revenge when he starts a site chronicling all awkward photos….woops
I love the gunne sax dress on the left, and the fact that you can see the grain of the plywood.
Wait… my right or your right?
It would be a dream date if the boys held compound bows and the girls held crossbows
I like Turtles
i like you turtles101.. i’ve been watching you
Hey, me too
don’t you mean the guy on the left
first! i dont get it.. long distance slow dancing..?
I think the joke is that she’s holding his thumb and not his whole hand. (Took me a little while to get it.)
Took me a while too. But yeah.
Wow! I just got that! Why the hell is she holding his thumb?!!!
Ohhhh yahhhh, she IS holding his thumb. Maybe his hands were just too sweaty.
She doesn’t want boy germs.
i think the caption is talking about the guy and girl on the right. She is barely holding on to his thumb.
dummies- it’s because the girl on the right is barely holding his hand. Read the title.
Because the title is pretty obvious people are making jokes about it. Read the comments.
What’s not to get? The girl on the right is barely holding onto the guys thumb… not too much of a connection I suspect, thus the long distance slow dance comment: )
Jeez people…the girl isnt holding his (guy on right) hand, its just placed on top. She won’t hold his hand, therefore probably will do the long distance slow dance.
Yeah, I’ve seen people hold compound bows better than that….ZING!
Because she is holding his thumb? They are like 14 or 15 years old!
Probably the least awkward picture I’ve seen.
This photo is the definition of awkward, mate.
on the contrary…thumb holding can be very sensual. you are in for a wild ride time my friend!
lmao
i think the caption is about the guy on the right.. look at him.. he’s shorter than she is!… or about the same height
Everyones is is laughing at the “long distance dancing” but I myself got great humor out of the chick on the left…pink dress is lovely! Ahahahahaha!
thumb job…cool.
Wow, did they really have their prom with a city landscape in the background?? Lucky.
I don’t think so. Pretty sure this is a production of Guys and Dolls.
“I knew Nathan Detroit. Nathan Detroit was a friend of mone. And you’re no Nathan Detroit!”
Quick!
Pull my finger!
thats funny.
I saw the thumb holding right away, but it took me a long time to figure out why it was titled “Thumbalina” LOL
I just think it’s great…
Wow i got totally thrown off by the title. I thought it was a joke that the guy was super short (which he’s not really), like the Thumbalina character. hahaha I’m slow
ThumbElina, people. There’s nothing worse than everyone copying a mistake.
And has nobody spotted their TIES yet??
what about the guy on the left holding the girls hand almost at her wrist? that’s a little weird way to hold a hand too…
other then the hand holding, this is a classic 80’s-90’s school dance pic lol
Okay, the reason people are confused is because they are looking at their right rather than at the pictured people’s right.
I don’t think this is a prom photo, but rather a drama photo – perhaps the backdrop is for a play that the four of them are in. Also, the dress of the girl on the left looks like it’s supposed to be from another era. or it could be a very strange prom photo afterall.
Exactly what I was thinking! My bet is Guys and Dolls.
Actually, no, it was Homecoming. Not quite sure about the reason the backdrop was the way it was. And yes, I had an awful dress… And the guys asked us what color our dresses were in an attempt to match their ties to our dresses… 1993 at it’s finest…
classic!! A full night of touch dancing to Richard Marx ballards ensued following this.
Maybe they’re cousins! These are awkward family photos afterall!
Whew, at first I thought that was a picture of me. In which case, this would not be funny. Alas, it’s not me, so it’s great.
There’s nothing funny about this one – except the Gunne Sax plywood comment above. I’ve submitted much more awkward pics than this that have yet to be posted. For once, I’m disappointed in you, AFP Blogmaster
I think she looks more like Mary Poppins….everybody now “just a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down, in the most delightful way!”
I just love that they all appear to have one arm.
Was he trying to get her to pull his finger? Did he fart?
Where is thumpkin, where is thumpkin? Here I am! Here I am! etc…
oh! what is that from? LMAO!
Ok, I’m glad people’s comments cleared that one up for me. I thought the awkwardness stemmed from the hard-on the guy has on the right.
Not something I normally look for, so I’m glad someone else saw that.
That’s what I thought the long-distance dancing was about, too. LOL
I happen to know these people. It was a school dance. It was not prom. It was not a school production. And yes, Mr Thumb is kinda short 5′2″ or so.
How long ago was this taken? This decade?
Hi Funnysox!
It was Homecoming 1993.
I’d be more concerned about the chick on the left who doesn’t HAVE A HAND.
That’s me… I’m the guy in the blue shirt. A friend of mine sent me this link and thought I’d get a kick out of it. Very Funny.
WOW i didn’t know skyscrapers were made from wood. Come on at least paint over the wood grain!
