Spreading the Awkwardness
It looks like it’s shopped because the little girl in the front isn’t exactly proportionate to the people in the back. I get that it’s foreground/background, but they’d have to be REALLY far back in order for her to appear so large.
Finally proof that Hansel and Gretal never did make it out of the woods… Love The Trees!
I actually dig this picture quite a bit. In fact, had they been cheesy and smiled it would have ruined it for me. Seldom does “ennui” work in a family photo. Especially here.
It’s my perfect idea of a family photo! I seriously LOVE it on so many levels! Ahead of it’ time for sure. Not awkward, just awesome =)
I want to laugh at the collective ennui, but at the same time, they are just SO… Damn…. COOL.

Wow, I stumbled upon this without knowing my father had posted it. I wonder how many other people are freaked out when they see their face on this site. I’m the young boy in the photo and I too remember it being taken. Must have been around 1979. We have a version with us all smiling but it’s not nearly as good. Thanks Dad.
actually this pic isn’t half bad…very good..l………….ighting is good and the way everyone is scattered around….this actually looks like art or belongs in a magazine….

What they aren’t telling you is that this is actually in The Fire Swamp. We wouldn’t want to live there, but the trees are quite lovely.

The kid in the back is the one that got lucky and won a golden ticket from willy wonka. Guess Grandpa Charlie had passed on by the time this pic was taken.
The mother seems to be just a floating torso.
They all look super imposed don’t they? lol
I did always wonder what happened to all the kids the Others took on the Island….

for all of you saying photoshop. Unless the mom and dad still dress like it is the 1970′s photoshop wasn’t around back then… Yes it could have recently been done, or created with other dark room techniques at that current period of time.
However, it looks like a very “real” shot to me. Depending on the lens they used and the super wide depth of field, that girl is just very close to the camera. The branch is coming at us, but we can’t tell since everything is so crisp and in focus. Your eyes naturally would focus in and out in this photo, but since they took it with everything in focus, you don’t have a choice.
Woah..I feel like I am being pulled into the picture against my will.

I was laughing so hard at the “superlove” comment that my son thought I was having an attack. I couldn’t calm down to tell him I was fine and he went and got my older son to see if I was ok. Then, once I calmed down, I was walking down my hallway and started thinking about it again and almost fell down laughing. HILARIOUS!
