aaaaaw. I just loved this guys!
not awkward at all, they seem so happy
this pic is more realistic than the blue screen nonsense that you get now.
What a great picture! I love the family dynamic, and it’s really fun(ny)… I’d pay good money to have my family pic taken in that barrel, and I’d display it proudly
ok how did they all fit in there?
Awww, this is so cute! I want to grow up in that family damnit!
Wow! Thanks for all the neat comments!!
The photo was taken in 1969… we were posing in one of those vacation photo props. No Photoshop work here…
Hillary Swank & Tom Hanks huh…??!! YEA!!!! (if you could see us all today!)
My friend just posted this on my facebook because the girl in front looks EXACTLY like me at that age!
Oh too cute! The shadow Dad is casting on the clouds behind him really sells the illusion.
Now on to the singing!:
We’re bobbing along in our barrel
Some of us tip right over the edge
But there’s one thing really mystifying
Got me laughing, now it’s got me crying
All my life I will be death defying
‘Til I know
I wonder wonder why the wonderfalls
I wonder why the wonderfalls on me
I wonder wonder why the wonderfalls
With everything I touch and hear and see
good lookin’ bunch.
I LOVE this photo! Everyone is so happy and having so much fun! It may not be “awkward” but it’s still one of my favorites!
This family is adorable!
I love this family! So much fun!
Mom = Hilary Swank
Dad = Tom Hanks?
Is that Hillary Swank on the far left? HA!
i just took a similar pic with my son and his friend on our vacation there this summer lol….if you go to the falls, you HAVE to have this pic taken!
not awkward, just AWESOME. i think a family vacation to niagra is in my future.
What a fun pic! Not awkward at all in my opinion.
BTDT – been there done that, no clue where the photo is (from the 70s)
How does the boy do that thing with his fingers?!?
I can’t be sure but I think this is photoshopped as the mist does not match the barrel and shadows are off. Please chime in, the pro’s out there.
not a photoshop. it’s a souvenir pic at one of those booths where the family stands in front of a backdrop
is that hilary swank?
Someone forgot to tell the family that they really ‘were’ going down Niagra Falls and Mom planned the whole thing.
I must have four or five pictures just like this from growing up going to Niagara Falls… what’s awkward about it?
This is an awesome family photo. Everyone looks so happy.
HAHAHAHA this made me laugh out loud!!
…this picture is like shooting fish in a barrel with a crossbow!
(I know…i’ts a stretch, but hey – it’s been a long week, OK!? )
This was the BEFORE they went over the falls photo…you don’t want to see the AFTER one..not a pretty sight.
Great picture! You are all right — what a wonderfully fun family!
This pic reminded me of the Hanscom family for some reason – love it!
The mom looks like Hillary Swank as Amelia Earhart!
Great pic…but if one had a serious panic look…this photo would have been priceless!
This is charming.
Ha ha! This is excellent, it has a kind of Brady Bunch vibe to it! Kind of wrong but still cute!
The picture would be perfect if the 2 up front were looking down. Just a suggestion for all future barrel riders.
Clearly photoshopped…..I seriously doubt that this whole family ACTUALLY went over Niagara Falls in a barrel and if so they wouldn’t be this happy.
My thought exactly. There’s some fuzziness around the bottom of the barrel. Not a professional photoshop job like the other photos.
Let’s face it…THAT many people in a barrel and I’m supposed to believe it didnt tip over? Nice try picture, but shame on you.
It’s not photoshopped – it’s a posed shot in front of a backdrop with a fake barrel cutout in front of the family.
hey, steph, the previous posters were being facetious….
funny how people jump to the photoshop conclusion. Souvenir photos have been around a long time before photoshop. Definitely a fun photo for the family on vacation. I love how they all made the expressions.
Obviously, it’s done in front of a backdrop and and the people weren’t actually going over Niagara Falls in a barrel. The previous comments are just funny replies to the picture and not factual statements. They are just playing on all of the accusations made against most pictures being photoshopped.
I think the comments are hilarious but you loose a lot of the humor when you have to explain the joke to someone. This is sarcasm.
Souvenir barrel photos….with Hilary Swank
Yes, Hilary Swank…THANK YOU, nikki, I’ve been wracking my brain to figure out the resemblance. I kept thinking Karen Carpenter but I knew that wasn’t it!
Yes! That was my first thought too! She looks just like Hilary Swank…
Hilary Swank….. as Amelia Earhart
This is awesome! I want to meet them!
Okay, now I want to go to Niagra Falls
This cracks me up and has to be circa late 60′s / early 70′s with all those striped shirts. Love it though and look like they are actually havign fun!
We’re bobbing along in our barrel…
i love this photo! what a great family
Hmmm….sure, great photo, but at what cost? Not a chance they all survived that plunge.
ha!!! best comment by far.
This is what this website is all about.
It’s good to see everyone happy in that kind of photo =)
by the look on her face, I think Mom is standing behind the barrell and pushing the rest of the family over the falls.
I was actually waiting for her head to spin around three times…haha
Agreed. Whereas the rest of the familys’ expressions say, “Wheee!” hers says, “Mwa ha ha!”
I love this photo!! They obviously have a ton of fun together and don’t give a fig what others think.
Making fun of this photo is like shooting fi– no, no I won’t say it!
I have to say, though: I’m a bit disappointed in Mom’s lack of commitment to the illusion. I would have believed, if I didn’t see her shirt peeking out of the side of the barrel!! A little photoshopping would have been acceptable in this case.
I’m just sayin’
Yes, because photo shop was around when this photo was taken o.O
Yeah, the shirt made it look fake. Not the shadows cast on the clouds and sky.
this is perhaps the best and most true family picture I’ve seen…I guess no one can really see Mom’s sinister smile….
They look like a very happy family. This is not that awkward, but cute.
What a fun family!
This is such a HAPPY picture. These people are hysterical. Love ‘em!
