I’m French .. here we don’t have engagement photos …
Ah, the French, with their style, their je ne sais quoi! Magnifique!
seriously, no one commented on how straight his hands are on his legs?
that was the first thing i noticed! the french are so weird on so many levels!
He’s got those things on his feet to buff the floor with… Right? Cause that’s what you do at your engagement…
“Stand up straight for the picture!”
the shoes are actually to keep him from floating to the ceiling, such is the tragedy of a gravity deficiency
who takes an engagement photo in a kitchen LOL
ahhh… feel the love…
Looks like Morticia Addams and her some-day-to-be butler Lurch in Junior High. “Trish! You spoke French!” Kudos to Cubby for “You rang?”
oh, you know what speaking French does to Gomer!
It reminds me of some kind of TV show ???
OMG !! It was during the 60′s or 70′s !!!
We are not like this in France, I swear it !
Nay!!! The bloke’s jeans are certainly post millennium… my theory is they glued everything in their house to the ceiling including their own feet, and hanging upside down the poor boy’s back spasmed, but his girlfriend kept her floaty anti-gravitational vibe…. as only French women can.
I love the slight raise of the eyebrow he has going on there.
Why is there ALWAYS someone that will argue that the picture isn’t awkward?????
This is totally the most awkward.
Did he wet himself? Look at his pants.
Provencal gothic….
You rang?
YES. That was definitely an Addams Family pose.
If only he was holding a giant wooden fork…
If only he WERE holding a giant wooden fork. . . . (Imperfect subjunctive — Americans are so horrid when it comes to proper grammar usage!)
Wow, who are you, the Grammar Cop? Lighten up!
Lee – Seriously? I make a great joke and the best you can do is complain about my grammar? So sad.
My name is Lee, and i didn’t say that. I only say funny things.
I will identify myself as Lee#1, and you Lee can be # 2 because you are taking all the heat.
1) How do you know Julie’s American???
2) I’m American and I’m a grammar freak most of the time. I make exceptions for comments on funny pictures, though.
Sorry, Lee#1′s comment was the funniest thing I’ve read all day. Julie’s comment was funny, but Lee just had to go that one more surreal step.
I actually had to bite my lip and go look out the window, since I’m in the office.
Thanks, Lee#1!
“Hurry up and take the picture, I gotta pee!”
Ahahahaha!!!
to me it looks like a theatre backdrop??
yeah, yeah, yeah–show off!
Translation: “I find that the whole thing has a quaint charm: the posture of the boy, the ’70′s-’80′s look of the girl, the slippers he’s wearing, the kitchen. I’m just waiting to see a tiny white-haired grandma in an apron with blue flowers walk in.”
Hardly worth the mystery, non? :-] And, I think he meant to say the girl was dressed like a hippie chick, which would have been the ’60′s, not ’70′s, at least here in America.
They look like they’re standing in front of a firing squad!
Then she’s about to put a daisy in the barrel of the rifle.
hahaha!
I know ze answer! He is wearing ze back brace!
And zhat is why ‘e could not iron ‘is pants or wear shoes with ze laces!
Exactement!
Mais oui! But whhat of ze madamoiselle? She ees stiff too, like ze board – yes, no?
OMG I LOVE that kitchen.
But yes, this is awkward. They look cold, like physically cold. Maybe the heater’s broken.
French Gothic
lol!
Ha ha Yes!
I suspect he’s indulged in so much vin, he’s just trying desperately to stay upright.
“Leapin’ Lizards”! That’s a great photo!
Are you sure this an engagement photo? My dad and his side of the family are French nationals and I KNOW the French can’t keep their hands off anybody. They are the most touchy feely people on earth!
Woooah! You really should slap a NSFW tag on this steamy one!
Perhaps he’s remembering the words of his dear maman who always told him to stand up straight for photos? And the fear on his face is the thought of what would happen if he didn’t.
Otherwise, je ne comprends pas.
I love this picture, I don’t think it’s awkward at all.
Other than the whole held-at-gunpoint flair to it..
For an engagment photo they look so, so in love. Just … smoldering with passion … yep.
And they are not stiff or uncomfortable at all. They look so relaxed and happy.
