When I was little as small as the little toddler, we also took a picture in front of that same back drop!!! from Olan Mills… and I was making the same face! I wonder if that was what they were going for??? But it was just me and my older siblings…no mom and dad!
The baby’s expression is cute and funny, and excusable ’cause she’s a baby. Mom and the little girl are looking at the same area off-camera. It’s Dad that’s screwing it up. Why’s he giving the photographer that look?
So here’s what happened: Mom and little girl are looking where the photographer told them to look, at a birdy, maybe. Dad’s like “Screw what that guy said. I’m looking straight into the camera.” Baby’s like “Zoinks! Omg! There’s a flashy light up there!”
awesome picture. The little girl is adorable. My dad had the exact same Avon necklace. Boy, was he mad when I tied it to a stick and shot it into the river.
Poor Mom looks shell-shocked from getting everyone there on time, and she’s desperately trying not to look down to see if the girls are smiling at the camera.
I wonder if someone was dangling one of those cat toys with the alluring feathers and beads and stuff overhead for her to look at? It works on my dogs, anyway…
It works on kids, too. BELIEVE ME! hahaha There is an EXCELLENT chance that’s what she’s so fascinated by. I know I had to do that a lot when I worked for Lifetouch.
My family has a few photos of me looking like this, some professional. This is probably the best photo out of all of them that was taken; it’s hard to get a toddler to cooperate and when they finally do, everyone else is grouchy and tired lol
Cripes! My Dad had that very necklace back in the day. Hey, now that I look closer I think my family had a picture taken at O.M. with that very same back drop!
Oh my god….. I used to have that same necklace. Actually I had 2. One was this one, and one had a penny pressed into it. I hope I still have them downstairs…..

Hahaha the comment is everything on this one
A number of people have commented they have pictures with this background from 1977. That’s the year Close Encounters came out!
“I see dead people…”

Well Dad has ruined the picture by looking AT the camera. He always does this..

I WANT TO BELIEVE.

so when did those shark tooth necklaces go out of style??
I hope they didn’t pay for that.
The little girl is saying…”oh God, now everyone will know I belong to them”.
Beam me up, Dottie!
(Nice family-I’m sure they’re missed!!)
XD

ROFLMAO!!!

Moments before the photographer snapped the picture, little Susie begins singing “Ave Maria!”
Oh, man, I gotta rip a big one. Is that an open window …?
It looks to me that aliens have already landed & body snatched mum and little sis!
Does anyone else think that the little girl on the right could now be the wife on “Rules of Engagement”?
Ooops, wrong pic.
Yes…only Olan Mills could capture such a great shot. Imagine the proofs that they didn’t want and decided on this one!
Must be alot of action going on behind the photographer.
And yet, I bet Olan Mills STILL tried to sell them the canvas mount.
“They’re heeeere….”
It all makes perfect sense…just look at the Mom…she’s the alien. There is no human life in those eyes!
I have a necklace that looks just like the guy’s…and I have no idea where I first got it…now I do…
We need musical background for this one. LAAAAAAAAAA. me me me me me me me.
Oh My Lord, it’s from Olan Mills! These photographers really know how to capture a moment. (Grey’s Anatomy, anyone?)

From the smile on the big sister’s face, it looks as if she has really cold hands and her little sister has just discovered this.
Actually, I think big sister is aware of little sister’s imminent abduction. Hence the smile.
It must have the arrowhead necklace that attracted them.
It’s always the child to notice it first.
good thing dad is wearing his trusty arrow head he could fight them off.
OH MAN…lol…this is my favorite i’ve seen in weeks.
I love how the little girl is giving it her all, it’s a great pic. The rest of the fam, not so much…
My family has a few photos of me looking like this, some professional. This is probably the best photo out of all of them that was taken; it’s hard to get a toddler to cooperate and when they finally do, everyone else is grouchy and tired lol
Well she’s spotted something…. an angel maybe…
That guy looks like Brad Garrett.
“They’re baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.”
LOL! This is great!
Love the dad’s Avon arrowhead necklace!
That is exactly what I noticed first!!!
Cripes! My Dad had that very necklace back in the day. Hey, now that I look closer I think my family had a picture taken at O.M. with that very same back drop!
I think that might have happened a lot in the 70′s.
Avon – hilarious!!! It’s horrid! Does he have on a matching bracelet?!?
Oh my god….. I used to have that same necklace. Actually I had 2. One was this one, and one had a penny pressed into it. I hope I still have them downstairs…..
my parents have our first family picture from when I was born in 1977 with the same background (yes, olan mills).
We have that one, too! With the fake fence… Mom and Dad are sitting in front of it, and Sister and I are standing behind it.
The background was the first thing I noticed. My parents have a 1977 photo of me when I was 3 from Olan Mills with the same background.
that is adorable!
THAT’S the best one the photographer could come up with?!! Lame.
As a portrait photographer for children that little girl’s age I know how difficult it is to get children to look at you when you take their picture.
This is a lot cuter than her crying or whatever, and she’s probably fascinated by the “hair” light that flashes above her head.
Still, it’s pretty freakin hilarious
I thought it might be a monkey hanging from a tree. Since they are in the jungle or something.
The eyes have it!!
The eyes are looking in all different directions!
