Me too! The first thing that popped into my mind was, ‘Good Lord!”, quickly followed by, “The socks! My God, the Socks!” ha! They truly add that final awkward touch that sends it to the realm of truly awkward, bizarre, and ultimately, hilarious.

This is a completely normal position for all ages in the non-industrialized world, where people don’t spend all day sitting on office chairs or family room sofas. It’s actually very comfortable when you’re used to it.
Perhaps they’re both anthropologists, or primatologists.
It’s actually a beautiful photo, technically speaking.

I know a guy who can sit like that for hours, he says it’s the most comfortable thing in the world! He’s tall and thin and with flat calves, his legs actually look to be designed for it.
I, however find my feet going numb after a minute or two. And no, I’m not short and squat. Okay, I’m short.

maybe they are sitting on tiny photoshopped-out thrones and are the giant king and queen of somewhere, performing a magic cupping ritual that makes the background completely disappear?

If they aren’t instructors, they definitely do have some sort of yoga in their life. The posture of their hands has a lot to say for their relationship. The knowing eye could see the exchange of energy between the two.

I love this picture because 1) it’s a completely awkward family (daughter/father?) photo; 2) the way they are holding hands is really odd; 3) few people can squat this way (heels touching the floor- bottoms on their heels). Quite awkward… quite interesting… love it.
I’m thinking they are a father-daughter primatologist team, and this is their ape pose….. ? I don’t know, it’s my best guess!
